Omg, there are so many layers to this one. I read the comments above mine & saw where each came from. This one is a head tilted, brain-teaser. I see isolation, slight inspiration skirting around the edges, darkness peering though & the inevitability of death. I haven’t figured out an improvisation for that one yet. My daughter has decreed I’m not allowed to die though. Not sure that’s gonna workout for her but she says “that’s a you problem, figure it out.” If you know a cheat code on that, I’d be grateful if you’d share, my friend

Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Willow. So glad you connected with the write my friend. I think you’re pretty much spot on in your analysis, there are multiple elements in there for sure. Usually is in my writes. lol. I don’t know a cheat code, I don’t think there is one. Appreciate you.

Seems like a cool person. I can relate a lot to the guy. I am more into music than books and poetry. Also reminds me of all the great poets I came across through the years. How I admired them and miss many of them.
Great interview.

Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Keith. So glad you enjoyed the interview my friend. He’s aware, I think his profile is set up here, he’s just taking some time away. Which I understand. I took over two years away from writing. Thanks for your continued support my friend. Appreciate you.

I miss his rapid-fire style & quick (sneaky) wit. Wherever he is now, I hope he’s blowing people’s minds & being properly appreciated. Sigh…

Wait, you’re saying Pete is missing? Damn. John Lennon was one of the all-time greatest lyricists ever. It’s so cool that Pete comes from Liverpool.
A lot of guys don’t like taking Propranolol regularly. It’s not a friendly drug for the bedroom, if you get my drift. Works good for hypertension and tachycardia, though.
-
Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Meg. So glad you enjoyed the interview my friend. Well, not literally. lol. He’s taking a break after the closing of DU. Lennon was an incredible lyricist, the Liverpool part was really cool. He was a gifted writer with a distinct style, and a true gentleman. Unfortunately, they all have some kinda effect. I get your drift though, my bat is still effective when I’m at the plate. lol. Appreciate you.

Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Naaj. So glad you connected with the write my friend. Nothing is ever off the table when it comes to creative ideas and collaborations, just don’t have the time to undertake such an endeavor at the moment. Who knows.. Would you want in on it?? lol. Appreciate you.

LOL, Damian, it would have been a blast, but it would definitely need an act of Congress to pull that together. Obviously my mind would have went sideways and took us down and erotic rabbit hole.
I cannot wait for the new Spotlight.-
Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Fia. So glad you connected with the story my friend. It would have been fun, but difficult as well. So it’s a bucket list item, maybe life will slow down someday and we’ll attempt it. I would expect you to take us down that rabbit hole. lol. I can’t wait to do a new SpotLight as well. But for now it’s the classic episodes. Appreciate you.

Love this!! When I was a kid I wanted to be a meteorologist. How did you know? Nice storytelling here.

Hey, that was a nice walk down memory lane. For the first interview, it went well, I think. Thank you again, my friend.
-
Very nostalgic indeed, Fia. It did go well for the first interview. Each interview has it’s on vibe, because each guest brings a different flavor to each interview. I guess that means Fiaberry on this one. lol. Somebody had to be first, we made the blueprint my friend. Your welcome. Thank you, again. Appreciate you.

This was a great piece. Fia totally deserves this and much more. She’s the heart of this site & DUP! Nice work Damian.

What can you say about Fia but ‘wow’. She literally carried people by the hand over to this site. She writes some serious erotica too. A ton of energy and insight. She has a vision. And of course, she inspired a poem from me.

Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Meg. So glad you enjoyed the interview my friend. Fia, is amazing. She can throw down in the erotica realm, no doubt about it. She’s a gifted writer and can do anything she puts her mind to, she’s been a big supporter of my work. She talked me into doing Backstage on YouTube, because she believed I could carry it. Then she was my biggest supporter of starting, SpotLight. I had come to DUP, after ending my songwriting partnership and friendship with, Joey G. A year and a half sober, and a month back into picking up the pen again. I was unsure of everything as a writer, I was a shell of myself. These seven interviews are important because the people I interviewed played a major role in where I am now. And I’m eternally grateful to them. But, Fia, had to be the first interview. Then she gave us a new home, she’s definitely cool. Appreciate you.

That’s some deep revelation, Damian. I’m so glad you’re hitting the high notes. Sounds like you crawled out of a dark corner not long ago. Congratulations on your year and a half. That’s really impressive and I mean it. I see alcoholics every day. Few of them kick it, particularly on their own. I think you are a super impressive guy.

Reminds me of the saying “you’re only as good as your last hit”. Not really sure why, but has that vibe of chasing a dream.

Makes me wonder what happened & where he went in his mind. Watching someone whose clock is ticking on self-destruct mode is rough. Friendships always seem to be the first casualties. Sounds like he choose something not real over value, in my opinion, my friend

Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Willow. So glad you connected with write my friend. In the end it was all about him. He only came to me when help was needed where his bandmates couldn’t help. What changed the most was even in those moments when I would help, he questioned every idea. Then would take something he liked I said, and totally reword it into his lines. That may sound petty on it’s face on my part, but it wasn’t like that until the last 6 months we were friends. It was like he doubted me for some reason. I mean all I did was get sober, while he remained on the sauce. Go figure. lol. Appreciate you.

Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Mary. So glad you connected with the write my friend. It was for the best I guess, he’s still doing the same thing last I heard. Meanwhile, I got a whole creative family/community first at DU then here at SR. I host, Backstage, and SpotLight. And I’m writing again, I think I did alright on my own. Appreciate you.

Always a joy reading your writes. Sadly, friendships usually don’t last forever. Great write my friend.
