let’s get a couple things straight

I might as well go ahead and say it

and I ain’t asking if it’s okay

it’s a truth that just can’t wait

I’m sure some of y’all will relate

if you’re looking for my silence…

keep it moving

you won’t find it here

not from a mouth forced to remain mute

making excuses for every bruise…

and bearing the scars of others actions

holding it all in for the sake of appearance

covering it up…

because they don’t want to hear it

I’m not here by invitation

I’m making my own way in

no more quietly waiting

no…those days are long gone

well, maybe not so long

but definitely gone

I’m no longer hiding it all away

opening curtains to release the shame

closing the door on carrying their pain

I’d like to see them carry the weight

I’m claiming my bad bitch…as of today

I’m done masking my trauma

simply to make others more comfortable

tired of wearing a smile…

when I’m anything but fine

not even trying to stuff it all back inside

I played that role longer than is safe

it took too big a toll

broke me down further than before

and the energy required…

to rebuild and rewire…

I can’t even begin to describe…

it’s a monumental task

and nobody ever seems to ask

“are you okay?”

I’m a badass starting today

or maybe I’ve always been that way…

if you’re tired of hearing it…

try living it

so stay and listen…

or just walk away

honestly…it makes no difference

after all the years locked in a bottle…

I’m having my say

until I’ve had enough

  1. hello beautiful Willow you and your thoughts matter I understand about speaking your mind or staying in silence to keep the peace it is detrimental to yourself as I’ve found out phenomnal write ❤️

  2. Damn.. You know how to start a series! Brilliantly penned, Willow. Excellent write with very deep layers my friend. You always manage to find a way to let the music accompany your words cohesively and effortlessly. “Raw emotion helps flavor the creative stew.” That is not one of my better quotes..lol. A very powerful read and listen. Thanks so much for sharing sis. Appreciate you.

    • I like that quote! This is what one might call a warning shot that I’m about to clear out the closet. It gets messy after this. Thank you, bro, for feeling this and for your words

  3. Chère W.,
I’ll try and tell you what I feel in a foreign language, so please forgive my mistakes.
This eye candy poem brings back memories of the beauty you posted on/in DUP.

It’s no coincidence that I am a fan of your writes.

And yes, it’s important that you feel seen, cared for and loved by people who surround you. Very important and I think you deserve that too.

This is more or less the idea of the coop, recently posted with the very special and talented Drieks:

Sloppy as hell and with hay fever kicking in full force, but you’ll get the feeling.

I don’t mean to be rude, but this thanking business is a very region tradition thing.
    So:
if you’re American: thank you very much
in all other cases: I love your poem to bits and can’t wait for the next.
    May your Sunday be beautiful!

    Warm regards, Gus
