My mood mimics the moon

Bookmark
HomeUncategorizedMy mood mimics the moon

It starts off full and swelling
bursting at the seams
as if it will engulf the world in its beauty

 Slowly, ever so slowly
It begins to disappear
And shadow creeps in

I secretly prayed for it to stay
To embrace me in its warmth
My prayers fall flat on the cold ground

It continues to fade.
Doing what it usually does
I get enraged

“How dare you leave me in my time of need!”
“You run behind the shadows as I break down”
I needed you to be my constant

Of course, you made no promise to stay
Now you are in half
Mirroring my emotions

Should I be joyous that a piece of it still lingers
Or should I grieve that I’m going to be left all alone in the dark
I’m always in the dark

There is a quarter left
I am prepared for you to go once again
Locking away my emotions

Knowing you will return brings no relief
I need you now
My confessor, my confidant, my silent serenity

A whispered bye floats on the wind
Brimming tears retract
I will wait for the fullness of you

Until then I am empty.

    1. I loved how visual this was, but also in a very subtle way. I could see the sort of waxing and waning pattern but at the same time we weren’t talking about a literal moon, so it was a weird kind of take this very visual thing and make it into a feeling. And then it’s all wrapped up in really beautiful language.

    2. The other morning, I was in a very sexual dream. it was intense! And then my alarm went off and scared the absolute hell outta me. Talk about a rip-off!
Your words reminded me of my own misfortune. LOL
I hope that there is success from your dilemma soon!
