I Don’t Cry

Bookmark

I don’t cry

it is not that I cannot

it is because I choose not to

 tears show everything

 when they fall

 why they fall

We are made up of water

 precious it is

but we allow it to spill

 a single tear wasted

 on a single incident

 never to be retrieved again

 sitting here in thoughts

of all the tears I’ve squandered

on people and things that are no longer here

I see why my mother said

“do not waste your tears on this or them.”

one day something more important will need those tears

a tear is a precious thing

made up of water and salts and your essence

 to be dried and forgotten

I watched a man cry once

 I was in aww

What was the final point to let that fall from your eyes

 children cry all the time

 it is their right

it is their form of expression to put a point across

 women cry

some do it easily as if it is there next breath

it is a form of release of a weight I suppose

my tears burn when they are released

I hold them back for very long time

emotions change from sorrow to anger

if I can wish to Cry tears of joy

that would be something to see

I just don’t have it in me

once, sorrow hit me so hard

I cried an endless ocean, full of tears

to be greeted by the darkness

Those tears found fear on others faces

I did not rise for 2 days

ever since then I do not spare my tears

I don’t cry…….

    1. Crying is a way for the body to release hormones that calm us down during stressful times.
Next time you cry, pause for a moment and reflect on why you’re crying.I doubt there will be a logical, solid, single reason.
      Great write Fia 💋

    2. Oh stop being so tough. LOL.
Everyone needs a good cry some time. Its how we flush our eyes out!
Hell, I even secretly cry a sad tic toc videos, in private! LOL.
      I’m a softy at heart!

Great words, Fia. Now let it out! Cry!

    3. I think I envy those who cry. I can’t seem to, and believe it’s not a healthy thing that I can’t. Most likely it was the trauma I suffered as a child that had me crying buckets until there just weren’t any more tears in me. I agree with your attitude about crying now, and believe your mother’s advice to be very wise. This is strong writing that has me thinking much about the subject.

    4. It’s so much more of a powerful expression this way, in my opinion. It means that if you cry it actually means something. Such a beautiful expression of that.

    5. I don’t cry many times. My poetry is my emotional release. But the last time I cried is when I lost my dog. When me and my wife got his nose print I just lost it. Don’t remember the last time I cried before then.

      Great ink.

      • Thank you, Nick. I remember putting my dog to sleep. My whole body kept trembling and I did shed a couple of tears then I went numb. Pretty sure I should have gotten counseling for that response.

    6. Oh lordy…have you seen the movie The Holiday? I’m the Jude Law character…a weeper! Happy, sad, excited, confused…I’m a soggy mess. This is an interesting view though, seen from someone else’s perspective. Very nice!
