Do the Damian
You procrastinated and missed the bus
Annoyed, you went on foot but thus
You got the chance to save a cat’s life
Caught in thorns, struggling to survive
Talking a walk, you lost 20 bucks
No great loss for you, it just sucks
The bag lady who found it was able to feed
Her children milk, bread and meat
A woman hit your car on the highway
You thought that she had ruined your day
The failed exam, the train you didn’t catch
Later you married her, your perfect match
So, do the Damian and appreciate
Whatever life gives you as your fate
This isn’t naive, it’s faithful and wise
The greatest blessings come in disguise

Elke! What a tribute to a guy that deserves it! Damn good poem and funny. Damian does rock!
Yes indeed, Damian rocks!
Once again, thank you very much for your kind comment, my friend! Watch out – most likely your turn is coming too! 😉
oh wow! Looking forward to it.
Beautifully penned, Elke. Into the book it belongs! Clever write my friend, I dig this. Thank you! I’m not one for typical critique that’s for sure. But what I am is supportive to those in this community who share their craft to tell their story about their journey in this life. It’s not always easy to tell certain stories in my life, but sometimes it’s needed therapy. I try to look through that same lens when my fellow poets and poetesses share their stories. I want everyone to feel encouraged to write and to feel that someone out there is listening/reading their work. Most of all I want them to know that they’re never alone. Appreciate you, Elke.
Damian
That’s what I also do. I try to transform my personal experiences and my reflections on spirituality, philosophy, politics, love and several other areas of life into literature.
I’ve noticed that for many people it is easier to criticize than to offer praise and recognition. That is not only sad, it also contributes to keeping our whole planet on a lower level of energy. Every word we speak and even every thought we have influence the way the earth develops. The negative energy of envy, hatred or greed results in more acts of violence. People like you my friend, are healers of the whole system. It’s not only about important political decisions, most of all it’s about the little acts of loving kindness each and every one of us can perform to make this world a better place. Thank you I myself have a penchant for the dark, morbid, and sarcastic side of writing., dear Damien! May your attitude be contagious!
