Once there was a gift
For a beautiful princess
A crown of sorts
Mangled had it arrived
Before she could touch,
Though t’was easily fixable
She felt overcome with grief
That she wouldn’t dare wear
Guilty had the knight felt
For they had obtained
Unknowing the status
Of the headpiece,
So meticulously they worked
Fixing and mending
Brushing and conditioning
Til it shone bright and soft
Surprised was she
To receive the ornament
In the qualification
That should’ve been
And happy was the knight
To show off her piece
At the medieval festival
That brought her so much glee

This heart felt piece is beautifully done. I am not sure why the grief but if it was meant to be for a lost loved one I am sure she loved it.
