The Sea’s Love

Standing on the rocks looking far and away at the wave
I saw you alone and naked, passed back and forth between the waves
Existence was confronting me, the froth was little more than covering
The turbulence of the whirlpools was more than just bubbling

The color of your eyes changes with the tides
Tidal pools meant for bathing become the perfect place to hide
There is so much going on, clams and crabs showing their jealousy
Although they try to blind me, I’m still watching you roll in from the sea

Waves crash and rebound, at times the spray chill and invigorates
Other times they simply remind and fiercely saturates
Rolling back in from where ever, my every fiber to be penetrated
The cold in the stones of my bones releases that for which we waited

As you roll in nearer the course of your love tends to change
The closer to the shore, the warmer, your heart is being rearranged
I once thought of you as a siren or a mermaid riding in from afar
But now I see you as a hidden blessing or my own personal star

Your love is like food for my heart a much needed and filling nourishment
You’ve witnessed so many storms while at sea so much discouragement
But like a finicky fish, when it comes to love you wont eat anything
The bait of my love is nibbled at, pulled under and released again and again

The baited hook of my words hooks you but the set doesn’t last
The netted emotions of my heart is better and must be casted
As you’re pulled in nearer like I’m Hercules, you beauty can only be compared to Aphrodite
You fly up and into my arms covering me, as if regurgitated by our jilted lover, the sea
