HomePoetrysuicide symphony

the world folds in
swallowin what’s left of me
bones gone heavy
will quietly unravelin

balanced on the fallboard
piano open mouthed
keys bared like teeth
a throat full of ash

string wire bites my throat
breath caught on the edge of escape
toes skim a high key
just to hear the note linger

it spills from the key to the floor
a low pulse of sound
beautiful enough to make the dark wait
so alive it almost forgives me

let it have me
don’t even flinch
the chord keeps ringin
low and endless
spillin past the walls
out into nothin

music at my feet
fadin
fadin

til it’s the only thing
still breathin
