Stillness Flowing

Summary:
A five in the morning musing on my birthday.

I once was a most beautiful thing

a rose in full bloom

now a gentle warm breeze

blows the last of my petals

to the ground.

My scent too is fading

barely a hint of it left,

few bees or butterflies visit

to take my seed to others.

Those that do come with desire

leave with derision.

But I’m okay.

That’s the life cycle of a rose.

That’s the life cycle of a human.

Fading beauty gives way

to a blossoming mind.

Then it’s over.

Or is it?

The fleshy, tangible parts of the living

return to the ground,

but the essence, the essence of life

returns to the space between

all material things,

where stillness flows,

biding it’s time

for a rebirth.
