  • Silk Taut, Velvet Obeys

Perfume enough to breathe.

I feel it before you move.

I stop breathing
so it can thin.

It curls around the room.

Silk no longer soft.

Silk holds
what you deny.

Light bends
to what I hold.

Light slows
until it listens.

A breath falls.

It knows
who taught silence.

I do not move.

A breath drops
too far.

I remain
because stillness keeps me.

I feel it
before you move.

You wait
as if waiting were choice.

Waiting sharpens
into permission.

The room tightens.

Velvet darkens.

Velvet obeys.

Everything stops.

Everything lingers.

I stay exactly there.

I stay.

Learning
how long you can last.

Learning
how long you let me.
