The stage is set – A set of the everyday
Lived, every day, in every-way
There is no other way, save, to go through every day
Sometimes seemingly sleepwalking
to a
grave, just going
through
the
every
day.
Every day in
every way
I would say
we deserve
to
be in a parade
today
I shall be dressed in black
Erect a float
upon which
to
Float
not
Fly, maybe
Die

I have heard of similar analogies; riding the train of life, or the conveyor belt of life. Perhaps a parade would be more enjoyable; certainly more so than the conveyor belt. So imagine when you die; “you got to fill out a form first, and then you wait in the line”. This is a line from the Paul Simon song “The Afterlife”. I like the way you formatted your poem, as if a parade of words down the page. Nice write!
Thank you Angel…
Well, sometimes we got some
time to kill…
We might as well come up with
some analogies…
🙂
Nice Paul Simon reference…
Your feedback and solidarity
is very much appreciated…
If we gotta die alone, perhaps
we might live together or even
poet together a bit…

Wow… I’m speechless. No worries, in a good way. From the symbolism, to the subtle repetitiousness of every day that really drives your point home. It feels like a death parade, every day. We are just biding our time until we reach that final destination..
Such a morbidly beautiful write, Cipher. xx

Outstanding piece of poetry Cipher_O. Great work here. Marvelously dark & wicked.
I like your unique style. There’s definitely a melancholy flavor to this piece, conveying a certain boredom and routine existence plodding along to the last. Let’s make it a parade! Suck in the helium!
Dear C,
For me there is this terrific buzz of kinetic energy that excites the reader to envision an actual parade yet, the main character is going through the motion of everyday living with a sense of apathy almost. As though we’re going to make it but pinching our way through. I really enjoyed this write. H🌷
