The world was at peace
And everything was calm
The global civil war had ceased
The launching of nuclear bombs
Ashes were still blowing in the wind
As the sun shined on the desolation
What led to the beginning of the end
The destination of society’s devastation
Toxic words and poisonous rhetoric
Led to the hate being spread
Many believed they would be better if
Their enemies were all left for dead
The silencing of common ground
Compromise now hidden for awhile
No more partisanship was found
Or hands reaching across the aisle
Everyone tightened in their stance
Thinking only their side was right
Hypnotized and in a trance
Vision was lost from our founder’s sight
We strayed away from our values
And lost our faith along the way
Even though we could still choose
Religion and patriotism we both betrayed
Greed and political corruption
And the media’s lies and distortions
Led to this catastrophic destruction
Of historical biblical proportions
The dust has finally settled
From the chaos of national politics
The world now permanently disheveled
From this, the final apocalypse

Are we headed towards this? Thought provoking piece
It feels like it’s already started.
Middle ground is a must in order to coexist.
If I go, I hope it’s fast. So fast I don’t know what happened.
I do kinda believe we are headed somewhere towards this..there is no compromise and many ppl are dug deep in the thought their side is right and the other side is extreme..and we need middle ground..its the foundation of growth and hope..but i feel like our political leaders force us to choose and its a no win choice..we will see what happens..thank you all for commenting and for reading
One planet. We are all we have. You’d think we would do what we could to preserve that, preserve each other. Not so much.

You would think we would cherish it and realize we are all 1 and the same..instead we have been programmed to be fueled by hate and greed..we are a consumption society and we want everything for ourselves instead of sharing..we have lost our way..the sad part there are still many good people with good hearts that are caught in the cross fire of the political spectrum..anyways thank you for reading and commenting..I appreciate it

To my great regret, I think this could happen. The people may want peace, but the leaders want power and wealth. I hope good will triumph in the end, but I am quite a dreamer.
I am a dreamer too..I keep hoping we wake up and figure out we aren’t enemies with each other and we realize we are being manipulated so those in power control everything and are using us and pulling our strings..unfortunately I don’t think that will happen before something castrophic happens..which may be too late..thank you for reading and commenting..I appreciate it very much
