Why did i make the mistake
Of being your friend?
My hate for you festers
Into a beast i can’t control
At night I stare at your name
Should I send that risky text?
Severing the last string between us
What is there to hold onto anymore?
Will i sigh in relief once it’s done
Or cry so hard I can’t breathe any longer?
Often I remind myself this isn’t so bad
Losing you is nothing compared
To the loss of the one i truly loved.
You will continue to live and move on
While she stays buried in the ground
So what does it matter that you left?
I’ve experienced real grief over real love
Your affections hardly matched hers
When i miss you, it burns like a gentle ember
Whilst the thought of her brings me to my knees
It’s still loss, though, no matter the difference
And i struggle to cope with the reminder
That you left me for someone half your age
How pathetic that only the naive are willing
To date someone as wretched as you
Was i just another youthful person
You preyed on those years ago?
Was i getting too old for you?
Did i get too aware of your habits?
Every day I’m hopeful she realizes
Soon enough and leaves you miserable
