Curmudgeon
i find poetry
quite annoying actually
all the stupid metaphors
that deepen the themes
into quicksand
that oozes in my brain
until i dip out of sight
and the rhymes
i could skip rope to
but find so mundane
my cat could write them
and ballads and odes
my lymph nodes
cry
i wonder why
the writers write them
and why their typewriters
don’t rust
from the proverbial dam
breaking
flooding pages and pages
don’t get me started on haiku
and senryu
who counts syllables in their sleep
so upon waking
three lines lift heads off pillows
to capture a moment
or a flower
or an interlude
on a frog pond
two croaking similes
i know i am over dramatizing
capitulating over excitedly
slamming and jamming on the keys
like the genre really drives me insane
and this poem is probably more
inane than most
but i guarantee one thing for certain
i am glad you cannot see
the expression on my face
(pretty ugly–as oxymorons go)
as i write this, only
the expression on the page.

Yeah, there are times when writing feels stagnant, but without it our expressions would never be able to leak through our pens (or typewriters). 🙂
Thanks, Tim.
You are my first review…YaY.
This seems like a good site. I am trying to upload a pic, but the profile page kicks me out.
Yeah, the uploading of a pic takes a bit to figure it out. I’m leaving mine. If you have any questions just ask Fia. She’ll be more than happy to help out.
Hello Jacob. Cool piece. Love your honesty & creativity here.
Thank you for your kind words, Visions.

As ever you find a way of offering a fixated thought or truth and nothing but. Here you have a way of running a contest with self, using your words to create a marvel or dish the dirt on your much used personal alphabet! Read twice, could hear your voice – wondering if you’d allow me a B+ for this review?
No, em. I think not a B+…I would give you an A.
thank you for your kind review,
j.
No, Em. I would not. I think A+ for the very kind words you impart on my writes.
I am glad we all are finding a new home here.

Jacob, it’s quite a while since I added an ‘r’ in the wrong place! How diplomatic and kind you were. You’ve not changed one teeny bit, sir. Yes, already feel comfortable here although need learn more about this and that. We were elsewhere for years, comes time when – perhaps, liberty makes us feel younger although preloved!
I wonder if Charlie will even notice we are all gone from WC.

I wrote to him and politely told him my thoughts: mainly that he might never been trusted again! No rushed response – of course. Have been told that there might collective act against his duplicity and such. Would willingly say what I think. Having been with the site for so many years I can’t even remember how many over a dozen!
Was such a fine site in the once upon a time, jacob. Why on earth could he not have shared with us. If lack of funds, maybe we might have paid a soupcon of pennies every season?
To be honest I feel a little lost at the moment. Must admit that this site seems to be pretty darned fine! Still trying to work things out however! Am on the Helpline too, so having to come and go . Began it late so only a few more minutes and I can zzzzzz and smile a yawn!
Is so good to exchange with a friend, sir. 🙂
