Late night musing. Thinking out loud again. That last verse happened while listening to, Rage Against The Machine doing a cover of, "The Ghost Of Tom Joad." Hip Hop Vibe, well I tried anyways. Appreciate you. - Damian DeadLove

Calloused hands built the world we know
It takes manpower to maintenance luxury
Who cleans shit and shovels all the snow
Spending lifetimes knee deep in drudgery

Privilege in no means suggests one is wise
Unqualified humans are selected next to rise

Strong backs provided all the heavy lifting
Made to carry stones on splintered bones
Who’s on the ground as the tide is shifting
Fighting for country in multiple time zones

Heartless leaders aren’t capable of empathy
Constantly playing the victim for the sympathy

Snuggled in a fat bed in an oversized house
Not a care in that empty head except cash
When needed they quiet as a church mouse
Leaving society broken in a free falling crash

    1. It’s the ones who see, recognize the injustice, disapprove…& do nothing. Those are the ones I really just want to bitch slap sometimes. Guess we’re gonna have to make enough noise for their apathetic asses too.

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Willow. So glad you connected with the write my friend. It’s up to the poets/poetesses to spread the truth. I agree wholeheartedly. Appreciate you.

    2. This is what happens when representation…”of the people, by the people, for the people” is supplanted by self serving interests. Seemingly, honor and duty to service “We the People” has become secondary; the concept either bowing to A Cult of Personality, or cowering in betrayal to self morality and integrity.

The U.S. Constitution includes a system of checks and balances to ensure that no single branch can become too dominant. This appears to be faltering before a nation of blinded eyes, and the lost art of critical thinking.

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Angel. So glad you connected with the write my friend. I agree with you wholeheartedly, all of the things this regime in power is doing, is illegal as hell. This cult is circumventing the checks and balances. Critical thinking is definitely lost on some folks. Appreciate you.

    3. I’m in awe of your musings/observations and these comments.
I try not to get too embroiled. It feels too overwhelming.
      So…what they said.

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Adira. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea, to write about these things. I totally get it my friend. Thanks so much for your support. Appreciate you.

    4. I think you speak for all the blue collar workers, from the men who built our cities to the men today who do the hard work that someone in office would never do. I can see the frustration in this, I can see the agitation over what seems to be coming.

I’m not into politics, but I can understand your anger. So many are angry. And why wouldn’t they be when they can hardly put a meal on the table while others are sleeping in gold-framed beds.

      Good poem, Damian.

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Tim. So glad you get what I was going for my friend. The working class has been screwed over for so many years, immigrants and transgender folks are not the problem. That’s all propaganda to make a scapegoat, it’s the billionaire robber barons that are killing everyday people. Sorry for the rant. lol. Appreciate you.
