A SAGGING SH*T PILE OF SIN

Bookmark
HomePoetryA SAGGING SH*T PILE OF SIN

this is how

we stack our sin,

sin on sin on sin,

how we pile our sins

high as heaven

and savor

the scent of them

and bathe

in their muck

and wallow

in their mire

and rise

wet with

the slime

and stink

of our collective sin

praise the lord

this is how

we marvel

at our pale,

shit-stink bodies

sparkling

in the sun,

how we boast

of our righteous sin

with a song

in our hearts

and our

holy books

held high

for this is

the way

of the lord

amen

this is us

dancing in

the dull glow

of a sick moon,

bathing

in our ocean

of pure

American bullshit,

proud

as hell

I was thinking of the hypocrisy of the so-called Christian Right when I wrote this — really of the whole Conservative movement these days, which has nothing to do anymore with “liberty” or “freedom of speech” or “free trade” or any of the catch phrases Conservatives used to bat around. But mostly about the Christian Right. And, of course, about the sociopaths and stooges currently running things. Our government was flawed, but we took so much for granted that we losing day by day.
        Thanks again.

    1. It’s good to see you here, Adagio. Thank you for reading and commenting.
It doesn’t matter the sources. One sees the attitude toward and treatment of migrants and protesters, the dissolution of DEI policies, the attempts to thwart the rule of law and resulting the battles with the courts, the heavy handed efforts to control universities and law firms, the insanity of DOGE, the collection of personal data by an authoritarian leaning administration, etc. I don’t want censorship of any kind in the US. I want to be able to rail against government policies without fear of persecution or prosecution. I don’t want religion taught in public schools, but I want public schools. I don’t want religion in government. I want the end of corporate power in politics. …
      I could go on. Apologies.
