    Rock-a-bye, Baby

I know no other way the weight of his absence presses aching...waiting... begging for his return as nights close in shadow draping me in yearning the remembrance nearly blistering moments of fierce and desperate thundering of twin beats throb piercing me and I cannot...will not...forget saturation a constant as darkness falls summoning...

    words recede
    when darkness settles
and sound is heard only at the edges
    muffled though they be…
    silent sobs and absolute grief
    louder in my senses
than gunshots and shouts of jubilation
because we all know where hate takes us
but only some will see it
    guess it’s only visible…
from the barrel end of a gun

    • It sounds like moment of redemption. The darkness seems to have control it all.

It talks about gunshots, shouts of jubilation over hate, and staying “triggered.” It’s that “eye for an eye” energy where the fight never ends because everyone is “just warming up” to hurt each other back.

      • The only way to fight hate is with love and compassion. Standing together in the face of adversity and having each other’s back.

        • Yes exactly… With love always to defeat against the darkness that will not win. Good write keep it up .

    • The title sums it up. We all know where hate takes us. We do and some try their best to stay away from it and others well…

      • Others seem to relish it. Does make me wonder what deficit is within them that they think they need to fill it with hate. Thank you, Fia 😊

    • Daddy taught me how to shoot because he said it was important to know how to protect myself if I ever needed to. He also said the first thing I needed to know was that if I’m not going to be able to use it, it will be used against me so I should probably never get one. I’ve stuck by that philosophy since that day. Thank you, Brenda 🧡

do you choose to soothe your own pain?
    or that of others?

words slip  in and out of thought tickling inspiration    then drift...   overwhelmed by their source they unravel wisping away from grasp   probably just as well...   takes more ink... than currently in possession let words refill the bottle while energy supply refreshens

    • “takes more ink…

      than currently in possession”

I have been feeling this a lot lately.

      • I think it goes back to the weight of the world these days. It takes so much energy to just survive…not a lot pouring into our cups. Thank you, Fia 😊

    • Feels like poetic intermission… a mist of words floating about
I like the mood this invokes

      • Life is…a lot…these days. Intermission would be great, but who’s got the time? Thank you, Naaj 😊

    • Powerfully penned, Willow. Excellent write that I can definitely relate to my friend. Inspiration is sometimes a bit of a process indeed. Chasing thoughts and having them slip away can be so frustrating. The life of a writer is kinda quirky when you think about it. Nicely done as always. Appreciate you.

      • The more we have on our the mind, the more jumbled it is up there. So polluted the words can’t find the exit. So they float around like wraiths on a stormy night. I’ll get my rhythm again. Just need a breather. Thank you, my friend 😊
