      • good evening dearest Damian I feel the emotions behind your lyrics well done ❤️

        • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Brenda. So glad you connected with the lyrics my friend. I was very emotional back then, still am a little. Appreciate you.

          Damian

      • It reads like an anthem for introverts. Society doesn’t like us much. They don’t like nuance & complication. We often find ourselves at the mercy of the abuser without even playing the game. They want easy, straightforward answers and guaranteed results, but like Kierkegaard said, “the crowd is untruth”.

        • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Benjamin. So glad you connected with the lyrics my friend. I totally agree with your commentary. Some are even unwillingly playing the game, it’s kinda unavoidable I’m afraid. “An anthem for introverts.” I dig that. Appreciate you.

      • Phenomenal piece of poetry (lyrics) Damian. You are a talent. Your writing always shines!

        • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Keith. So glad you connected with the lyrics my friend. That means a lot to my brother that you feel that way. Appreciate you.

      • This hits hard and I like the rhythm of the piece.

        • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Fia. So glad you connected with the lyrics my friend. Appreciate you, cuz.

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Mary. So glad you connected with the lyrics my friend. One of my goals as a writer whether it be lyrics, poetry, or prose was the hope that my readers or listeners would know they’re not alone in their troubles in this world. Appreciate you.

      • It’s a damn shame this one didn’t get its voice. I can hear it in my head. It’s powerful. You going to give it an album slot? Hint…hint… Seriously though, this is a fantastic piece. Going in my list, my friend!

        • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Willow. So glad you connected with the write. It’s one of the few that did get music my friend. It appeared on a demo, along with a couple of other songs I’m a part of. It was kinda my fifteen minutes of fame on the local scene. I got to see the crowd at shows react to those songs, it was a rush like no other. It’s special to me without a doubt. I even had one song I was part of that was a live favorite, meaning the people called it out by name wanting it to be played. I literally had to pinch myself. lol. There were good moments admits the dysfunction. Appreciate you.

      • Powerful work. Great writing.

      • You did an exceptional work here, You’ve expressed emotionally and psychically what abuse is, another lines that caught my attention,

“i am judged for their crimes
captive in a cell called resent”

It’s when we get above our victim character we forive and we are free, we don’t forgive for them, we forgive for ourselves, for us living a life we deserve. Yet, some people don’t understand that this process doesn’t end in one day or two! and even many of those who were under abuse may spend their whole life without completely recover, and You see some people judge their actions, behaviors, way of living… etc putting more pressure on their emotional state making them shrink more into their own safety bubble. They don’t recognize the amount of work these persons have been doing to overcome their pains and hurt… then You see someone throw a silly ignorant word/s making things worse, like You are being the criminal instead of the victim.

        • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Light. So glad you connected with the write my friend. That was one of my favorite lines as well. It’s a process for sure not something that can be solved in a day or two. Healing one’s self doesn’t have a set amount of time to complete the process. Often times it’s ongoing through the remainder of a persons life. Depends on how deep the scars are. I concur with your wonderful commentary. Appreciate you.

      Diary of a Nobody

Rest in petrol,  flames before cremation  licked her thighs  where no father’s hands  should have been    Driving down the motorway  she must have seen the country  shiver with pale light, swathes of spruce,  obscuring, paths, fields, old stones,  unborn rose quivering for the sun,  she must have seen...    Family albums...

      • a very heavy write no one should bear such a burden it’s too much to bear… my son drank himself to death we are left with a hole in our life knowing he chose death… hugs ❤️

        • sorry to read of your son. addiction is a cruel bitch. life is very fragile, so it’s important to cherish every sunset etc

      • I agree with crimsin this is very heavy. There sadness, grief and confusion left behind because of the suicide will never truly go away.

      • Excellent. truly.
The topic is always brutal in its finality. How it is written of is where we, as the living, try to reason with the utter chaos that it must be on them. I never, ever understand that quitter mentality. That sounds cruel, calling them quitters, but that is how I see it and deal with it. I have suicides in my family, and it pisses me off.
Many of us have had horrendous circumstances to deal with, but the act of surviving is what makes us supreme beings.
Hope is eternally gold. It makes us rich.
Your write is outstanding in its view, and the crafting of it. I really admire this.

        • Thanks Mark. Appreciated.

To the outside world, she had it all. Caring husband, beautiful kids and a good career, but who knows what goes on within the skull? She wrote too, and in hindsight, there were the most portentous of clues. But therein lies another problem. So easy to blah, blah and bullshit within a word circus. I totally concur – hope sits beyond even the darkest midnight.
