      Honor, Respect, Loyalty

Honor was not just a word  It was inner compass Felt deep within   Respect is earned Not demanded like a spoiled brat Given willing   Loyalty is fleeting What once was sort out Is now blown away like a puff of smoke

      • Powerfully penned, Fia. An excellent musing my friend. Nothing wrong with watching old karate movies. Nicely done as always. Appreciate you, Cuz.

      Learning to swim

I dove into the ice cold pool Sunk to the bottom A memory immediately surfaced I was supposed to make bubbles Being pulled and breaking surface I looked into fearful eyes “I forgot the bubbles”

      • oh wow lovely Fia what a memory…I learned by myself when I around two I was in doughboy and I was holding the rail but the adults in the other end were drunk and making waves so I let go and swam underwater I don’t know how…you’re right the water can be scary… sorry I shared but this write brought back that memory…❤️

      • Cleverly penned, Fia. Excellent write my friend. I still can’t swim to this day, I only seem to sink.. Nicely done. Appreciate you, Cuz.

      • Wow! I was never taught to make bubbles. But I was like a fish underwater and held my breath for long periods of time. Payback is a bitch though and asthma shut that down. Maybe because I never made bubbles…

    • City Peace

The wind howls through my window

The fire truck siren blares down the street

The neighbor’s heated argument is in stereo sound

The dogs whine in a pitch that rivals nails on chalk boards

Yet I cannot sleep without the city’s peace.

      • The country may have its crickets, its coyotes’ howl, but this cannot match the window rattling as the EL train passes by. It’s funny how night sounds become familiar so that you can sleep. It took me a few weeks o be able to get to sleep after I moved from NYC back to PA and a more rural setting. -Curt🌹
