City Peace The wind howls through my window The fire truck siren blares down the street The neighbor’s heated argument is in stereo sound The dogs whine in a pitch that rivals nails on chalk boards Yet I cannot sleep without the city’s peace.

  The country may have its crickets, its coyotes’ howl, but this cannot match the window rattling as the EL train passes by. It’s funny how night sounds become familiar so that you can sleep. It took me a few weeks o be able to get to sleep after I moved from NYC back to PA and a more rural setting. -Curt
