Ignorance is bliss amongst the arrogant  Always coloring outside the proper lines Seems every person has a different slant Beautiful flowers covered by thorny vines   Never assume in a world painted with lies It only complicates what seems to be real Dark clouds cluster along...

    • I don’t like arrogant people, I’m sure most don’t. Trying to get along with them is almost impossible so I don’t try. And being in a band with one can be maddening. I don’t know, often times I wonder if they’re just wounded and like a dog they try to fight the world and everyone in it. It takes patience I guess, and a lot of it to get through and heal those wounds. Whatever. Good one, Damian.

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Tim. So glad you connected with the write my friend. In a band it’s usually toxic in my experience. I think they’re usually overcompensating for something, there is always an insecurity tucked deep inside their heart somewhere. I’m too old to play games anymore. lol. Appreciate you.

        Damian

    • I consider myself a peaceful person for the most part and do want people to heal.
I always wonder what the hell happened. Everyone is born innocent but living can change people.
Experiences change people. Some grow from it and others don’t and fester.
As I got older I also learn from observing and knowing when something is a lost cause.

      Enjoyed the read amigo!

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Adel. So glad you connected with the write my friend. Life is rough for sure, I often think all humans are broken a little bit, it’s kinda a product of time in this world. Appreciate you.

    • You truly succeed in unlocking new points of view with your brilliant and thought provoking writing, dear Damian! Many people become hard-hearted and bitter, when the storms of life challenge them. But it is never too late to reach their hearts. ‘Aren’t we all beautiful flowers covered by thorny vínes?’ in the end, love will win over arrogance, ignorance and violence!

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Elke. So glad you connected with the write my friend. Indeed, we are all covered by thorny vines, often beauty does live inside. Thanks for such wonderful commentary. Appreciate you.

        Damian

    • I always try to be conscious of the fact that I don’t know another person’s pain. But sometimes I really just want scruff the arrogant ones and tell them “Stop making your damage my trauma!” Wouldn’t do any good anyway. But the urge is there. That arrogance is usually armor. Crack the armor and it crumbles. Then we get to the heaet of the matter. The places you go with your musings, my friend…

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Willow. So glad you connected with the write my friend. That sounds right to me, that they use arrogance as armor. It usually leads to a breakdown of sorts when that armor cracks. Appreciate you.

        Damian

    • That first line really hits–‘Ignorance is bliss amongst the arrogant.’ It sets the tone for such a sharp reflection on how perspective shapes truth. I love how you balance disillusionment with hope–the idea that words and compassion can still open new ways of seeing

      Beautifully penned

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Roma. So glad you connected with the write my friend. I’m always trying to find that proper balance between disillusionment and hope. Always enjoy your keen commentary my friend. Appreciate you.

    • Perfectly poemed my friend .. makes perfect sense and looks so good sitting on this particular page .. which was obviously made for it .. write on brother .. Neville 😎👍👍

    • Damian, this is strong tonic on arrogance. You put the iron to the fire with this without a dull moment in the. You concisely and powerfully express your views and emotions that spill across the page brilliantly.

    • It was a great vacation baby! And when I saw this title, I was expecting it to be more about that, and not about my Army years, etc.
I used to write little snippets of lines on whatever scrap paper I could find back then. It was my woo-sah thing. Nowadays we have computers and Ipads etc. My ol tablet was my go-to for years! It’s ancient and still works, like me. LOL

This is a beautiful gift, this write. I took it to heart, right beside where you reside already. You are incredible.
I know how lucky I am, to have found you. Or you snared me, whichever it was!!!
This is quite a write, babydoll. Dammit.

    • Well it’s all true. I wanted to post a pic but I couldn’t fit it and I was excited to post this!
I didn’t want to try and figure it out.
I was jotting things down at work after lunch. Came home and wrote this.
I’m lucky to have found you too. It’s a two way street here pal!
Okay. Time to go to bed! I’m fixing to call you goodnight!

      I love you too!!

    • You had us at St Augustine, you couldn’t had read us at DUP and not know we have tons of family there. We read this seeing Seminoles, and Spanish cannon offering freedom to runaways. Tight

    • We went to go see the fountain of youth museum and they fired the cannon!
OMG Meme! It was awesome! Viva St. Augustine they shouted before they lit the cannon.
Had a great time and beautiful memories. You are so lucky to have family there. It’s beautiful.
That was my first visit. Hopefully with more to come.

Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment!

    • Adelphina, I was expecting to read about a vacation to St. Augustine Florida but was so moved beyond words by the story that unfolded before my very eyes. Truly a treasure of a poem that I am most honored to read by you tonight. This is filled with everything great poetry is about. A gently scribed lovers passion of a poem.

      • Hi John!

I jotted things down all day at work. Went home and got started writing.
I caught my small little typos – it’s vs its and fixed!!
I was in a rush to get the words down they slipped by me!
I’m glad you enjoyed :). And it’s nice to see you on my page.
I hope you have been well amigo:)

        Thanks for stopping by!

    • Blimey A. This pulsed my heart a little bit faster. A great eulogy and metaphor to your love for each other.

      • Hey Rob:)

It was time for me to show Mark some love. Our vacation was spectacular
so I used it for some inspiration.
This came to me at work and I was so excited to get home and write.
It was a beautiful place. Even went to the fountain of youth museum.

        Thanks for stopping by!
        Stay cool amigo!

    • Beautifully penned, Adel. An amazing poem about the love and memories you and Mark share. Excellent work. Appreciate you.

      Damian

      • Hi Damien,

Mark writes such lovely poems about love and I wanted to give him some back.
I sent him the draft before I posted and he texted me right back with an OMG! Lol
He was so thrown off he didn’t tell me about my two little typos that I just fixed. Hahaha

        Have a great evening amigo.
        Thanks for reading:)

    • Informative info Fia. Thanks for all you do & the updates here.

    • For such a new site, y’all are doing a kick-ass job of making it a solid place for writers.
Personally, anyone posting four pieces in a day is a lot. I’d like to see more faces posting in a day, than one face posting a lot in a day. Yaknow? It gets overcrowded quickly… But, eh, I’m just a user here. LOL

    • I don’t know if I may make a suggestion here, but ….

Is there a way to decrease the size of the header pics above a write, on the main page? If they were smaller, more of the recent authors/writes would show, which makes it easier to spot our favs, etc. As it is, it’s so labor intensive to keep hitting next, just to see a few writes as we scroll. Lesser size would add back more author visibilty on the main page.
Just a (good) idea for you to think about. It would help with the visual flow of seeing what’s new.

    • Thanks for the news update, Fia. Appreciate you, cuz.

      Damian
