    The sad state of things.

As though a nearby pond has dried up,I've lost something (in writing). I used to look out the window.I'd get ideas and write them down. Now...all I see are houses and maybea new fence. My self-title of poetry man is asking...talk to...

    • Don’t be afraid of the silence.
Talent is permanent and you have it.
We all dry up for a while .

    • Powerfully penned, Tim. We all go through those spells my friend, it’s the life of a writer it seems. Be patient with your muse, sometimes they get fickle, but usually come around when it’s time. Hang in there brother. Maybe this write can help you start to break through the barrier. Appreciate you.

    • Thank you, ntd. Welcome to the site.

    • Silence can be deafening when we’re used to words and inspiration. The world is heavy right now, pressing down on creativity. I always find that not trying to look at it directly has a better chance of making contact again with the muse. I’ve been here, it is scary indeed

    • Well I for one am glad you are back. For two, writing tends to play hide and seek.
Eventually it will tag you amigo!
Don’t stress about the dry spell.
Enjoy life and the day to day stuff we take for granted.
Inspiration just might be found there two.

      Hang in there buddy!

    • When I am stumped, I read several different pieces from a few writers that continue to inspire me. It usually works.
Yet, we all have that lull of course. It’s a breather from the mental tasking perhaps? At any rate, you will find a moment I am sure, to share a gem of yours with us. Hang tough!

    • Every poet hits that dry pond sooner or later—the mud cracks, the frogs go quiet, and you think the water’s gone for good.
But the fact you’re scared of the silence tells me the well’s still yours—it’s just waiting on rain.

    • Tim, I too have been through this. I believe your gift is still as strong as ever, it was just waiting for the right moment to resurface. You never lose the muse. This poem itself is an example of how you can take an emotion or feeling and make it into art.

      • I’ve been going through a dry spell for years. Every once in a while a poem whispers in my ear. Thanks for the comment, John.

    • Wow awesome. As the person said Don’t be afraid of the silence, I know it can be scary but it won’t hurt you. I personally learned to deal with it and eventually you will too.

      Great work

    • It’s sad but beautiful words too. Sometimes there is no words to express. Except the silence around you. In silence our eyes see enough inspiration around us when there’s no sound , no voice in a small spot. Good write..Keep it up 🤗

    • Tim….there isn’t much anyone can do to get democracy back to its original intention.Still, if we don’t keep writing about it,as you have here, then who will?
The old adage, ‘you get the government you deserve’ seems to playing out across all western democracies but especially so in USA where only money matters.
It’s taken a long time for the dollars and the bastards to get absolute power…they will never surrender it.
I’m still smiling and won’t let them grind me down.
      Cheers mate.

    • Thank you for speaking true and honest words in a world attacking the foundations of democracy more than ever before, Tim¡

      • Hey Elke. Thanks so much for the comment. I keep getting this feeling like Trump is not going to finish his term. We’ll see.

    • Pretty much whatever they say to get elected is bullshit. All are guilty, too. There is no good politician in the higher echelons. I guess they can’t really be anymore. Too much chaos in all parties and at all desks. And yes, money is the controller.
We can hope for improvement all we want. There will never be, again. Just less bad, if we are lucky.

      Well delivered message, Tim.

      • Thanks so much Styx. Sorry for the late reply, I’ll be by your way soon. 🙂

    • Sharp teeth in a suit, and still the poem doesn’t flinch—love how you chew the rot of politics without losing your voice.
The grit of truth bites, but you carry it kindly, like a warning whispered in a smoky bar.

      • Thank you, Thomas. Sorry for the late reply, I’ll be by your way soon. 🙂

    • Tim, you wrote the reality of the rot that is infecting America and much of the world with penetrating clarity and articulated poetically the shroud we are enveloped in. Truly a great poem about our dark time.

    Music of the 1970's.

Music of the 1970's.Unlike todays computerized songs (by solo artists) that are written by 7 or more people, the music of the 70's was made by bands and solo artists who played their own instruments and wrote their own...

    • Passionately penned, Tim. Into the book it belongs! Excellent write my friend, you’re a great storyteller brother. I love pieces about music and this one didn’t disappoint. I remember the whole back masking deal, it all came to head during the Judas Priest trial. And then some people wonder what made the band write the “Painkiller” album after that trial. Nicely done. Appreciate you.

      • Thank you, Damian. I always liked hell bent for leather, livin after midnight, Nostradamus and other songs. But yeah, Priest was and is a great band. I do remember that trial. And I do remember Rob Halford having to sing on the stand to prove they didn’t influence kids to commit suicide. I believe Ozzy went through the same dilemma.

    • Totally hear you on this one. Proud GenXer (born in 74) but I was influenced by my uncle who showed me bands like the Beatles and Queen. Yes, there was something special about those bands that to this day still have an influence on everyone. The 27 Club has always been interesting to me, those guys (and gals) have left that last impression, tragic and mysterious and the “what could have been” leaving many questions unanswered. Whenever I pull some of this music in van my kids call it the Geriatric Rock, but it’s one of the greatest eras of music.
