    Castles of Sand

Awake from dreamsOf loving you,And hate the morning sun,For you wait in the twilight,And still whisper, "Lover, come ...Back to the place we started,And to where our love began;A place within our dreamsMade of the Sandman's sand."ღ ღ ღResting...

    • Beautifully penned, ST. Excellent write my friend. Appreciate you.

      • You have no idea, and I know that is a clichéd phrase, but you really don’t how much some very kind feedback means to me. I’m writing again, and I have a lot to get out. I will return the favour soon, trust.

        • I look forward to reading more. We’ve all been there my friend, I too know what kind feedback did for me when I needed to hear it from a fellow writer, I just continue to pay that kindness forward. It’s become a part of who I am. Appreciate you.

          • I wrote to another commenter, and I’ve told many people about it over the years, that I had a poetry home way back in 1996 that wasn’t too big, super-cool people, but it shut down and I moved to a bigger site in 2007 (which I just deleted my account, along with 8,000 some poems a few weeks ago, tired of the drama).

I NEVER thought I’d post one more poem again online in my life. But my good m8 M.E. posted a link to a poem of his here, and I poked around a bit, and thought, YES, this is the kind of place I have missed.

I really appreciate you, too, man. This is the kind of site, perfect size user-base, where I can read and give feedback without feeling overwhelmed or sucked into cliques, or any of that awful, AWFUL drama.

Thank you again. You’ve really, well, I feel like the night has stolen any more of my words, but just thank you.

    • Beautifully penned, ST. This is a lovely little write my friend. Nicely done. Appreciate you.

    • Ohhh, thank you again, I can’t really thank you enough. I tried the website writerscafe.org, and even after commented on others’ work a lot after 5 months or so no one had commented on a single poem of mine, so y’all are down-right spoiling me.

I am feeling badly I have yet to return the favour, especially with my friend from another site, M.E., who kindly gave me a selection of his work that he thought I’d like. I threw out my back earlier this month, and got, umm, this is embarrassing to admit, but a little ahead of myself with my usual pain medication, so I’m in withdrawal and in pain, but as my Oma always told me as a teenager if I had a hang-over, “Beschwert euch nicht, wir müssen für unsere Sünden büßen, damit wir lernen, nicht wieder zu sündigen!”, and I’ll leave the translation to you if you are interested, but it’s sort of funny.

So I WILL read your work, and comment, and on everyone else’s who have generously read and commented on mine (ESPECIALLY my m8, M.E.!) as soon as I get my new prescription filled. But you say it’s okay, you don’t mind reading and commenting on mine, that it isn’t like horse-trading, so I believe that in you, and it isn’t so much like I am building up a debt to pay, though I feel reciprocation is only good manners, I really am looking forward to digging in and reading, as I love reading poetry even more than writing it.

You’re a great bloke, cheers to ya!

    Where the Faerie Fell

In a wood where heather grows high and wide,And the moon on the bracken makes silver tide,A mortal walked where none dare stray—And met a maid from the Aos Sí that day. Her hair was woven of alder bark,And her...

    • I didn’t count syllables but each line flowed flawlessly. You have a talent for rhyme, that’s for sure. I wrote something similar years ago about Brier Rose but it didn’t go over well. I think people are suspicious of rhyming poems these days with the advent of A.I.

I hope you get more comments. Great writing.

      • Thanks Tim! I usually just write random lines and thoughts, but this one took a quite a few days of careful crafting (and a lot of RhymeZone help, haha.)

I agree about AI poems… I think I’m getting pretty good at spotting them, that they have certain markers that repeat again and again. My former poetry site seemed overrun with them over the last year or so.

I appreciate the kind words, and that you like these oldy-timey sounding ones as I do!

    • Powerfully penned, ST. Excellent write with amazing storytelling my friend. Appreciate you.

      Damian

      • Thank you! I always feel trepidatious with these rhyme and tight rhythm-schemed poems, that they’ll sound too contrived, or lose the emotion in the crafting. Thank you so much for reading, and, again, for your always overly generous comments!!
