A powerful and disturbing writing dear friend! That I feel unsettled means that you hit the nail on the head.
In his comment, ME relates to Friedrich Nietzsche and his advice not to look too deeply into the abyss so that you won’t become a monster yourself. You suggest an alternative: you do look deeply into the abyss, light it up and make the monsters visible to your readers. Awareness is the first step on the road to transformation and integration.
