    A Mother's Hug Goodnight

Frigid, calm front hides in northern winds, vast sky of my bedroom dims. Stream in wintericed over, mother's embraceletting go at bedtime. Still rainfall, sky's dark pillows, eyelids become anchors, smothering. The cold frontblanketing these damp lids, peacefully covers the coming storm.

    • Powerfully penned, Daniel. You were a great writer then as well my friend. Twenty years ago huh? My high school days seem like a million summers ago. Appreciate you.

    • My mother was the opposite of this. Now though, she’s a different person. You have an exquisite way of expressing yourself, Daniel

    Live On

Something has died within me. Something like the soul,  yet my body lives on.   Something has occupied the void. And I know not what it could be! But it feels elegantly poetic!   It may be what saves my life. And may be what drives me to...

January tenth, we touched like before,But something was missing, we chose to ignore. No sign of an end, no hurtful goodbye,Just silence that settled and never asked why.You reached for my body, but haven't since then,No heat, no cold, just...

    • Okay, that is gut-wrenching. To lay there and live a slow death that you did not sign up for. Not right at all.
      This is executed well

    • Thanks for the thoughtful comment Fia.

It’s not right and it’s not wrong , it’s just the way it is.Like everything in life, even suffering is impermanent.

      🙏

    • Quite moving..thank you for sharing

    • I’ve often felt that pain is preferable to apathy. That quiet passing out of space. This haunts & hurts. So often the case, & always hard

    • First the Technical: Excellent consistency with meter, beautifully executed rhyme.
Composition: Incredible depth. As Willow noted, the piece reflects a falling away, a loss of touch and intimacy with no explanation. It’s a death of sorts, and you’ve painted it perfectly. Really well done.

    • I hope you didn’t drink the entire bottle.

    • Beautifully penned, P.G. Love the flow and wordplay my friend. Used to like Tequila, even better was Mezcal. Of course those days are long gone, I wasn’t able to do moderation very well. Anyways a great write. Appreciate you.

    • Cool piece P.G..Creative. Just don’t overdo it with the hard stuff! And I don’t mean Don’s member!! xxxo

    • There is so much to unpack here: the not-quite-healthy relationship that just feels so good, too good. The conflicting knowledge that you seem all too aware of: /My head is telling me to drink more, my liver screams “GET IT TOGETHER!”/ Been there, done that too many times. Vodka was my liquor of choice, and Stoli was my dear friend (along with Camels) for a good while many years ago. The fact that the knowledge is there speaks volumes to you as a person. Excellent write! <3 Echo
