This has a great A-B flow to it. Nicely done

    • Thanks Fia! I wanted it to sound almost like a lullaby. lol

    • Hello, can I interest you in a Frankenstein type guy? LOL.
I love when you get all voracious! This is a dare ya write, you know!
Okay okay. Enchanting write, Vampira! I love the aggressiveness of it, the baring of fangs and display of an appetite for human consumption…
It’s super well done and well timed for the coming season. Perfecto!

    • I was in the mood after reading all the fun stuff
And you are just my type mister. Perfect. 😍
I’m glad I enchanted you with my fangs!
Next time I see you I’ll bite!

    • Beautifully penned, Adel. Excellent Halloween write my friend. Appreciate you.

      Damian

      • Thank you Damien!
        I enjoy fantasy horror.
I love Van Helsing! The one with Hugh Jackman.
And The Mummy with Brendon Fraser.

Thanks for checking this out amigo!

    • Nice and spooky for the Halloween season. 🙂

    • Even though I am not a huge fan of Halloween, this is pretty cool .. in fact it’s bloody much better than that .. Neville 🐈‍⬛🖤🐧😎👍

      • Nev, amigo!
When I think of Halloween I remember getting on the tailgate of my dad’s truck with my friends to go trick or treating.
Some of my best memories. We would do each other’s makeup and have a blast. lol
There are a few neighborhoods in my hometown that still go all. People will park a block away and walk with their kids up and down the neighborhood.

I’m glad you enjoyed the write! Now go take advantage of all the awesome chocolate varieties on Halloween 🎃
Snickers & Twix! Even the Reese’s peanut butter cups are cool:)

    • Tis the season for the undead. Great ink.

    • An interesting write, suitable for the season.

      • Well hello there Mr. FlatDaddy!

I wrote this around three years ago. I was in a vampy witchy mood. lol
        Thanks for stopping by amigo!

When can I write about love and loss, hopes and dreams? When would it be feasible for me to shed a tear and let it drop on a page? Or that I can actually bleed, and you see the entirety of...

    • Hmm? Power has many abilities and some are grateful for those abilities. Interesting start. 🙂

    • I love a good vampy story!
      Especially in October!

    • Hoi hoi
When I was in school I had a girlfriend.
We laid paper in a thingy that she used to wash the dishes.
We poured ink for a fountain pen on paper, just so that it didn’t saturate the paper.
And then we made ourselves cry. Honestly. What you can do with an onion for a crazy painting!
You don’t really have to be crazy, but it helps.

And the tears diluted the 🫟 ink.
Come to think of it, I wonder what’s become of the painting.

And I still write with Fountain pens exclusively…

Needless to say I love your write.
All we can do is to organise the emotions of our readers, and you did that soooo well.
The spellingschecker disagrees with emotions. What’s happening with these Apple guys?

      Thank you for posting!
      Kind regards, Gus

    • Perfectly timed for Halloween 🦇🦇🦇🦇😎👍

    • Great job with the dialogue with this… excellent flow… pulled me in… carried me along

    • A little dark to start the day. With a vampire on my shoulder. Excellent, Fia,

    • I agree it should be read at dusk. lol
      Thank you Adagio

    • Perhaps a nighttime read, with a lone candle lit in the corner, but then it’s a myth that Vampira(e)s are fearful of the daylight. There is the “morning delights” and a bite on the neck is always desired…. er… perhaps I shouldn’t have said that out loud. Being a Warlock, I do not want to let any Vampires know where I live. Right now there is an uneasy truce between us, my coven and the Vampires. And if you don’t mind, a word of caution and advice, please take care of that untrained Vampire and his master Mino. They pose a serious threat to the peace in the area. But be careful, they are dangerous.

Sorry, Fia, I kind of got caught up in your story. I can’t wait to see/read how it develops
      -Curt

    • Brilliantly penned, Fia. I always enjoy your storytelling my friend, excellent write. Appreciate you, cuz.

      Damian

    • A good start to a promising tale. I look forward to an interesting read …

    • Is this the opening of the Halloween season, we was questioning it at several periods. We didn’t read the part about this being about vampires. If you don’t read that you may get confused as to is this a gay piece or what. Now we have to find something dark but maybe tasteful. Tight piece Lady

    • This is heart pounding suspenseful story writing of the finest kind. I loved this so much. The dialogue was truly written by the great storyteller you are. This was true to the vampire genre yet oh so original. Loved this from beginning to end. And am so excited by the prospect of reading the two sequels. Truly great tale my friend.

    • Wow, that was very heartfelt, and I like it when you said to tie your shoe together, throw them over the limb, let them know you’re taken. (Aww) Nicely done

    • Remember when kids would throw their old shoes, tied together, over a power line? usually near their own house. “Oh, there’s Johnny’s shoes!”. That was what I thinking of when I added those lines. Sort of a “I was here” type of thing.
      Thank you Fia!

      • This is my favorite write!! I was so happy when I read this for the first time. Still gives me the same feeling reading after all this time. You my love are my happy place. Even in the very beginning you were my happy place, you still are.
What a truly special gift you’ve given me with this write.

I still remember right after you posted you left the site for like a week! You big scaredy cat! Lol

        • I went on a trip! It was a timing thing. LOL. (To give you time to reject or accept)

          • Oh my big sexy goof. If you didn’t realize I was in then I was doing something wrong. Hahaha

            • Oh my dear, you were teetering on that line the same as me and you know it! LOL
The internet is a crazy place. We were just being careful huh.
              Now we are crazy. LOL

              • Um. Someone got a tasteful and quite lovely booty pic if I remember correctly! That was not teetering on a line. That was long jumping over it! Maybe even pole jumping or whatever that’s called ! Hahah

    • You’re a great poet and a very lucky man.

      • Thank you, Tim. I sincerely try to make my writes worth reading to those who choose to. I have a stack never posted anywhere, because they are not good enough. Like most of us, it’s a hit or miss with the results.
And, I am not sure it is/was luck. Fortune perhaps. Luck maybe that her and I both found DUP, in the same time frame. Perhaps it was meant to happen. We get along so well. Same values, etc.
        Okay, I’m lucky. LOL

    • Beautifully penned, Mark. Such a lovely and heartfelt write my friend. So glad you and Adel both share your stories with us. Excellent work. Appreciate you.

      Damian

      • Hey Damian. We did discuss if we were going to join SR, or elsewhere, or nowhere, etc. But we both truly enjoy the camaraderie of a nice site, and the reward of reading great material. It’s inspiring. As for posting our own material, to me it is like payment for what I get out of it from others. A trade of creative inspirations.
And thank you for the props amigo. It’s all a trade.

    • Styxian, this poem, the two of you (in the comments) made me laugh out loud! It was the laugh of pure joy and appreciation of the warmth that flowed freely from your words and especially from the shared feeling of love. A “Hummingbird” may flit and fly everywhere, but they always come back to where the love (nectar) is the sweetest. It’s where they build their home. This poem and its confession and commitment tastes/feels like HOME.

Truly a really cool poem. I’m glad you shared it!!
      -Curt

      • What a wonderful comment, thank you Curt.
Her and I both have a great sense of humor, for sure. Sometimes mine is a bit dark, but that’s the way I evolved. Life can have some pretty brutal moments, and humor goes a long way with helping to adjust how we cope. Yeah?
Her and I met through the joy of writing. That’s a great thing to have in common. The rest simply fell into place.
        She’s a hoot! LOL.

    • It’s a beautiful gift the two of you have found. A lot of people only find more pain and damage online. Cherish what you have and nurture it as you did this lovely heartfelt poem

      • I certainly plan to, Willow. She is unique. I don’t want any second places ever again. So I’m holding on to her.
And, I appreciate your encouraging words, a lot!

    • What a real treat this turned out to be .. Write on brother .. Oh’ and I so love a happy ending .. Bestest of best regards to all those implicated .. Neville 😎💛👍

    • I love how this poem captures that mix of vulnerability and joy in love. The hummingbird fluttering in your heart is such a perfect image–fragile, alive, and full of hope. It feels intimate and really heartfelt.

      • Yep, fragile but alive and hopeful. Isn’t that a rush to be in?
It was a teeter-totter write for me, because usually I am quite stoic in person.
        She broke that mold!
        Thank you much, Romaj.

    • How sincere, sweet, lovely and emotionally this was written! it leaves for sure a happy smile and warmth in heart. I was immediately drawn from the first lines, good poetry does this! Don’t fear expressing anything with her, strengths and weaknesses… and all else, sharing makes the bond stronger! All The happiness for both of You💕

      • Thank you, Light.
It’s been a whirlwind in between the lulls of time together. Sort of story book, even.
Our challenge will be when it becomes daily! But I think we are ready!

    • I have found through the years, and many poems I’ve written, that the closing verse is most significant. It is the last spoken words of the poem that the writer bequeaths us with, like the last page of a book. It’s meant to catch our breath. As this does, overwhelmingly so.

    • Hey Kelly. I have two huge flaws when I write, one causes the other. In that I carry on too long, many times, by not knowing how or when to end a write. So sometimes they become long as hell. At least I hope they can be rewarding to read at least. As we all hope with our own writes.
So thank you for the positive note. It does matter.

    • Lovely and well written piece about US.
Your work is appreciated by me and I’m sure by all of US.

      💋

    • I’ve been out of the country for last month… I will do better on commenting

    • hello beautiful Fia thank you I try to particpate as much as possible some days I’m just not in the mood to read and I don’t want to leave half felt comments….I appreciate what you’re doing here ❤️

    • Like many social situations, this too is basically a circle. We all share the desire to write, obviously. And, to be seen a little bit perhaps, that we aren’t invisible. But it is a give and take. Like teamwork.
The site itself is doing fine. It is designed decently, and anyone with some sense can figure it out eventually. Even me!
Also, you obviously have your own life to live, Fia, yet you are doing a great job running things here. That is commendable.
You’ve been a big help to many. So thank you.

    • Good evening, my beautiful people.

For the sake of peace, please refrain from drama indulging. That includes defense of Fia as well as accusation. I will be deleting comments towards either point of view. Let us be cordial publicly at least. The comments before mine will stay, for the sake of neutrality.

Message me if you have any questions or concerns, my inbox is quite lonely. I will be cooking in the mean time.

    • When I first heard about this site I was cautious to join being it was unfamiliar. Now I’m not only glad to be here, but thankful to you fia for caring so much and being there when we need you. You’re a blessing to this community of writers who just want to express themselves in a way they can’t outside these halls. I always make an effort to comment on others work when I can even if they don’t comment back. Let’s hope Stars Rite grows with even more writers down the road.

    • Great comment Tim.
I just want to read good stuff, yaknow? Drama is for the TV, lol.

    • Hoi hoi Chère F.,
      Hope this finds you well.

I envy your energy and drive to (very kindly and easy going) keep the StrarsRite afloat.
You may remember my coops in the DUP with women mostly. More often than not fuelled by the thought that even today it is more difficult for women to find a stage and also because they write the kind of poems/lyrics I can easily relate to.

At the same time, I believe we must be realistic. Since Corona the forum life as we knew it is diminishing. Not where importance and influence is concerned, but volume-wise.

In my opinion fora are still playing an important role in my life and the life’s of many, many other people.
But at the same time, the number of listens/people who check out and read the lyrics of 4 years ago seem to be unreachable (if you know what I mean).

Loving me (with DUP’s Faith Maree) lured an estimated 12.500 people to come and listen (gitaarnet.nl/forum + SongwritersintheKitchen). I could prove what I say, but hey, would I lie to you?

Maybe, instead of focussing on volume, may I ask to consider warmth, support, constructive comment etc etc etc? And you’ve been advocating this if I read you well.
What was it the old geezersaid: the times they are a changing? He blabbered a lot but I think this one is true.

I thank you very much for all the work you’ve put in this. And I hope very much that (instead of magnetting more work towards yourself) you’ll be able to invest more time in your own writes. And I mean real soon. Which I love to read so very much.

My ‘short’ analysis of the waives of the fora.
Thinking of a valued person in DUP, I wish you a blessed week!
      Kind regards, Gus

    • Beautifully penned and nicely done, Fia. It is a wonderful community with so many talented writers and amazing people. I’m not full time at the moment, but always do my best to comment and be supportive. Well said cuz! Appreciate you, and all your hard work my friend.

      Damian

    • I agree, Fia. It doesn’t take but a moment to tell someone that you enjoy their writing.

    • Allow me to add my sentiments about you and this truly wonderful poetry site. I love that a Poetry COMMUNITY is taking shape. In these hard times where art is being attacked and undermined, this website is a breath of fresh air, much appreciated and needed.

I am new here, but in just a few days have met and read some amazing Poets and poetry. I desire to meet and read more. How we treat each other, the kind of comments we leave, and the support we give each other are of vital importance. While I do want to share the poetry I have written, I agree, Fia, (and all the others who have commented above) the moral core and benefit from this site is the community and ties we build with each other in this sharing.

Thank you, Fia, for providing such a wonderful and safe space.

      -Curt (redzone)

    • I just knew I couldn’t possibly be the only one who appreciates You & your brainchild .. I am not only grateful for Stars Rite & the opportunities it affords, but of course to You for all the hard work I imagine must go into running such an awesome venture .. Peace, Love & All Good Things to You Fia and all those who have already hopped on board & those yet to join us .. 😎💛👍

    • Well said – by all here. thanks!
