Professionally done, Wally. Each followed the same syllable count and I like the alternating rhyme scheme. And for the meaning, I think the chosen words are just right to convey the yearnings of the heart. 🙂

Wolves are back! Big bad and naughty wolves. The Wolves you are writing about seem to be more seductive and haunting than threatening.

I love the idea of this, the imagery. The whole gnome part almost, but not quite, adds a whimsy to it. Yet the despair overcomes that brief slide towards “not so bad”. The ending is perfect. The whole write is great stuff.
