Because it was the Alice Cooper Band, so he just legally changed his name and went with it. He was going by his real name, Vince Furnier, in the early days. In fact in the lyrics of the song: “Be My Lover,” he makes mention of it. ” She asked me why the singers name was Alice, I said, Listen, baby, you really wouldn’t understand. I went off on a tangent, happens when I talk music. lol. Appreciate you.

See? I learn something new every time I read you. We used to sing that song Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah to annoy our parents. I’m pretty sure I had a P.E. teacher much like that guy. )I have understandably blocked his name from memory.) As soon as I read what that guy at the beginning said, I started shaking my head….no, no, no…not a singular dude…a group! Happy to hear I wasn’t wrong! 😂

I didn’t know the backdrop on the group’s name, so that’s fascinating. I actually met several of these guys a few years ago. They are from the Mississippi area, or at least they visit here frequently. I’m sure you know there was a plane crash in McComb MS a long time ago where the band went down. (I wasn’t there for that)
