    The Great Deceiver

Fueled by a consuming rage Pointed at every situation  As I fall into the final stage Right before the initiation Locked inside self-torment  Wiggling out of the noose Keeping all the spirits dormant Until madness is busting loose   Pressure building within me Anger clouding all that I see   Face...

    • Oh yeah, this one definitely needs a place on the album! I hope it’s coming along well! The halls are a bit echo-ey without you wandering them as often, my friend

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Willow. So glad you connected with the write my friend. It’s going, though it took a while to get my “Logic Pro” software. Which allows me to mix better and I can even master my music with it. But, I got a song mapped out structurally, I have lyrics for everything but the bridge. Which I just came up with that bridge tonight. Gotta record vocals, and backing vocals next. Hopefully, I’ll be letting you hear it soon. I miss you too, my friend. You’ve been penning some excellent work my friend. Thanks for your continued support, it means a lot to me. Appreciate you.

    • I get the sense of internal conflict, and the rhythm and urgency make it clear these are lyrics meant to be performed.

The energy builds perfectly toward the chorus: “Face to face with destiny…” I especially like the line “Loyal to the art of betrayal” – it’s a great, concise piece of wordplay.

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Roma. So glad you connected with the lyrics my friend. I love that line as well. Appreciate you.

        Damian

    • More great lyrics, Damian. Very heavy stuff. I hope to hear the music someday.

    • Second stanza, first line, did you mean “you’re”?

The repetition really works. And the shield me stanza is so clever and just rolls off the tongue.
      Good, good piece of writing.

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Willow. So glad you connected with the lyrics my friend. Nice catch, you’re on the right path. It has a lot of meanings to me as well. This is the song I’m currently putting music to. Appreciate you.

    • Some people shy away from a poem that’s composed of rhyme. I’ve always felt that there’s a finesse to it that has to be refined like a piece of art. You have that quality. It speaks volumes, Damian!

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Kelly. So glad you connected with the lyrics my friend. What a lovely comment, so kind of you. Appreciate you.

        Damian

    • The lyrics are so lovely, I feel the intensity of the emotions…the push and pull, the thrill and the ache. and the repeated chorus of “sweet novocain” lingers like a haunting, addictive melody. I’d love to hear you sing this. It’s beautiful

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Roma. So glad you connected with the lyrics my friend. Well vocally I’m doing my best, I’m not the greatest singer. lol. I’ll share the song when it’s complete. Thanks so much for your support. Appreciate you.

    • Great message. Unfortunately I’m in a bit of a pissy mood with people these days. Wish we could all just not judge.

    • Easier said than done, my friend. Still.. all we can do is our best – to live and let live. When my trust, belief and love take a hit I will remember to revisit this write. Inspiring message, thank you for the share.

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Clay. So glad you connected with the write my friend. It is easier said than done, all we can strive for is our best efforts towards the matter. Appreciate you.

    • I’ve always tried to hold the words “you don’t know” in the back of my mind with others. You don’t know their story, you don’t know how far they’ve fallen or how far they’ve come. You just don’t know, so don’t judge. I’ve always felt differences were beautiful. It’s what adds texture to humanity. Another fantastic write, my friend

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Willow. So glad you connected with the write my friend. I agree, when one doesn’t know, all they can do is assume. Assumption is the mother of all fuck ups! In my honest opinion. Differences are what makes each of us unique, I embrace that. Always dig your commentary. Appreciate you.

        Damian

    • Very much enjoyed .. Neville

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Keith. So glad you connected with the write my friend. Appreciate you.

        Damian

    • Our differences spice up and beautify our lives. They offer a wonderful opportunity to learn more about this world and all its varieties.
Even if it is about the topic you absolutely don’t agree, don’t judge or hate. This makes the situation even worse. Try to stay open-minded and compassionate instead and your mind will be free to find the best solution.
An awesome and brilliantly written poem, dear Damien!

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Elke. So glad you connected with the write my friend. I couldn’t agree with you more. Appreciate you.

        Damian

    • A beautiful and insistent plea for universal acceptance. Its rhythmic, repeated structure powerfully drives home the message that true connection requires us to simply “judge not” those who are different. Resonates in every line and leaves a quiet, lasting impact.

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Roma. So glad you connected with the write my friend. In a perfect world I imagine it would be like this write, I try to remain hopeful of humanity, though it’s not always easy. Appreciate you.

    • Good write, Damian. There’s always that “Lord Of The Flys” affect when too many egos are involved. I’m glad you broke away.

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Alexandria. So glad you connected with the write my friend. You can say that again, I’m glad I broke away as well. Appreciate you.

        Damian

    • Sometimes when we opt to bow out, we find amazing things. Where you go will always be determined by you that way. What they do? As my daughter would say, that’s a them problem. Fly, my friend!

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Willow. So glad you connected with the write my friend. Very true, I unlocked a different world from the one I knew before. So glad I opted out of that toxic environment. A them problem, indeed. Appreciate you.

        Damian

    • I’ve been there. I know the animosity that grows over time slowly until it boils over. It’s very disappointing after it’s all over and done. It keeps going through your mind even years later. Good one, Damian.

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Tim. So glad you connected with the write my friend. It does kinda always stick in the recesses of my mind. In the words of DLR: “I knew I had company.” You’ve been there as well. Appreciate you.

        Damian

    • Tremendous work, my friend.

    • We are always in a state of change. I’m trying to let go of past events. People may read a piece or two about enduring an horrific childhood but there comes a point to emerge as the survivor and not dwell on what can’t be changed.

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Paula. So glad you connected with the write my friend. That we are, sounds like wise words to me. Appreciate you.

        Damian

    • That’s some fantastic venting. “Blame everyone not named you”. I been butting heads lately with someone like this.

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Julie. So glad you connected with the write my friend. I have no regrets, I started a new chapter in my life, as well as in my creative journey. Welcome to Stars Rite! Appreciate you.

        Damian

    • Hi all good Thanks have a good day

    • Wow, that’s incredibly raw and honest. You really capture the intensity and eventual breaking point of that kind of toxic partnership. It’s great to hear your creativity has resurfaced– you definitely ended on the strongest note by realizing you decide when to bow out.

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Roma. So glad you connected with the write my friend. It was definitely toxic, it took me getting sober and about two and a half years before I started writing again. Then I was at DUP for about 10 months before it closed. It was because of that community I found myself again. I moved here with some of them and am watching the Stars Rite community grow into something special, this is my home now. Sorry for rambling on, I do that sometimes. lol. Appreciate you.

    • I wish I could hear the music behind it. Perhaps someday we’ll get a glimpse of your energy and fire within your lyrics. Good one, Damian.

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Tim. So glad you connected with the lyrics my friend. Well through GarageBand and Logic Pro, I’m working on that. lol. The problem with not being able to play an instrument, is that it only leaves a few options. So I’m working on a solo album to give these old lyrics a home, there will be new lyrics as well. Appreciate you.

        Damian

    • I sincerely hope this one makes the album cut! I so badly wanna hear it! It moves like a snake, undulates down the page. Perfect for the lyrics, my friend

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Willow. So glad you connected with lyrics my friend. I plan on this one making the cut, I’ve always wanted “Wicked” to have music again. It had music in 97, but it was never recorded. Thanks for your continued support it means a lot to me. Appreciate you.

    • This is fire, friend. Everyone loves a wicked woman.
