• Depends What Matters…

    I don’t know if it’s a society thing…
    or what
but this standard that directs us to follow a specified path
    you meet…you marry…pop out a few kids
never forgetting the coveted white picket fence

    I have a question…
    what if that pattern…
isn’t really one size fits all…

I think of all the miserable…Read More

    • Hi Willow, you have packed a lot into your poem. At its heart is the recognition of individuality, as opposed to individualism. We arrive in many different shapes and colors as well as temperaments. For me, it is a social matter, the traditions that arise out of society based on oppression, of class and social distinction and hierarchy, that…Read More

      • I fear that we’re rapidly approaching that time when women and those of color have few rights again. The number of bumper stickers I’ve seen with “Make women property again” make me sick. And this country is terrifying me more every day. It’s time for big change indeed. Thank you, Curt

    Walking in with a smile
Feeling light as if at this very moment was the best

    Walking in with a frown
Feeling pulled down and weary as if gravity has a vendetta

    A tune comes to mind
    “Don’t worry be happy”

    A tune comes to mind
    “Everybody hurts”

    Open the window
    A beautiful butterfly fly in

    An Autumn Moon Night

An Autumn Moon Night    “Gonna get into it baby down where it’s tangled and dark... When we get through it baby you’re gonna give up your heart.   Gonna get a little risky baby Oh, that’s my favorite part.” ~~Bonnie Raitt   oooo     When I first saw you the moon was...

    • Is this a song? It’s cool. I like it

      • First, Thank You, Fia. I’m glad you liked this poem. Second, I am not sure it’s a ‘song’. I think to make it a song there would have to be a lot of editing, along with some experimentation. I am not sure I would know how to do this. The poem was written as I was listening to this Bonnie Raitt song, so besides quoting some of the lines found in that song, I think some of the rhythm of the song did find its way into the poem. But to be truthful, this was more an accident than intended.

    Nothing Breaks This One

Rewriting Memory   I’ve said it many times, over, and over again Guilt is a needless load to carry forever The solution comes in asking for forgiveness Or you else can’t go on happily with new endeavors   And though it’s all in the past you...
