Good evening, I’m Damian DeadLove. Breaking news, folks. No, not that depressing propaganda that has infiltrated the world. I’m talking about SpotLight coming to Stars Rite. It started from humble beginnings on DUP, but then turned into a powder keg...

    • Whoa!!!!…Lookin forward to the execution
      from this collab!!!

      Let’s go!!

    • LOL, Damian, it would have been a blast, but it would definitely need an act of Congress to pull that together. Obviously my mind would have went sideways and took us down and erotic rabbit hole.
I cannot wait for the new Spotlight.

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Fia. So glad you connected with the story my friend. It would have been fun, but difficult as well. So it’s a bucket list item, maybe life will slow down someday and we’ll attempt it. I would expect you to take us down that rabbit hole. lol. I can’t wait to do a new SpotLight as well. But for now it’s the classic episodes. Appreciate you.

        Damian

    • Love this!! When I was a kid I wanted to be a meteorologist. How did you know? Nice storytelling here.

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Keith. So glad you enjoyed the story my friend. It was a lucky guess, unless you’re just fooling. lol. Appreciate you.

        Damian

    • I just can’t even imagine…

But I’m looking forward to seeing the July featured poet! 🙌

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Willow. So glad you enjoyed the story my friend. I knew you’d be ready for a new SpotLight. lol. Appreciate you.

  • SpotLight - Fia Naturie

I’m Damian DeadLove. You might know me from Backstage, or possibly from right here at DU. This is a new show that’s meant for DU, it’s called, SpotLight. It’s a Q&A show, or an interview kinda vibe, if you...

    • Hey, that was a nice walk down memory lane. For the first interview, it went well, I think. Thank you again, my friend.

      • Very nostalgic indeed, Fia. It did go well for the first interview. Each interview has it’s on vibe, because each guest brings a different flavor to each interview. I guess that means Fiaberry on this one. lol. Somebody had to be first, we made the blueprint my friend. Your welcome. Thank you, again. Appreciate you.

        Damian

    • It’s back! I am STOKED! Big grins here, my friend 🙌

      • It is back, Willow. Glad you’re stoked my friend. Then there will be a brand new SpotLight in July. To start the Stars Rite era. Thanks for all your support for both my shows, it means a lot to me. Appreciate you.

        Damian

    • This was a great piece. Fia totally deserves this and much more. She’s the heart of this site & DUP! Nice work Damian.

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Keith. So glad you enjoyed the interview my friend. Yes, she deserves the SpotLight, for sure. I couldn’t agree more. Appreciate you.

        Damian

    • What can you say about Fia but ‘wow’. She literally carried people by the hand over to this site. She writes some serious erotica too. A ton of energy and insight. She has a vision. And of course, she inspired a poem from me.

      xoxo

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Meg. So glad you enjoyed the interview my friend. Fia, is amazing. She can throw down in the erotica realm, no doubt about it. She’s a gifted writer and can do anything she puts her mind to, she’s been a big supporter of my work. She talked me into doing Backstage on YouTube, because she believed I could carry it. Then she was my biggest supporter of starting, SpotLight. I had come to DUP, after ending my songwriting partnership and friendship with, Joey G. A year and a half sober, and a month back into picking up the pen again. I was unsure of everything as a writer, I was a shell of myself. These seven interviews are important because the people I interviewed played a major role in where I am now. And I’m eternally grateful to them. But, Fia, had to be the first interview. Then she gave us a new home, she’s definitely cool. Appreciate you.

    • That’s some deep revelation, Damian. I’m so glad you’re hitting the high notes. Sounds like you crawled out of a dark corner not long ago. Congratulations on your year and a half. That’s really impressive and I mean it. I see alcoholics every day. Few of them kick it, particularly on their own. I think you are a super impressive guy.

      • Thank you. It’s been close to three years now. When I first arrived at DU it was a year and a half sober. So I’m thinking it’s sticking this time. While I knock on wood. I’m superstitious sometimes. lol. Appreciate you.

    • Reminds me of the saying “you’re only as good as your last hit”. Not really sure why, but has that vibe of chasing a dream.

      Great ink

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Nick. So glad you connected with the write my friend. That saying is actually true to an extent. Whether it be a record company, or songwriting partner, they believe that to be the case. It’s a crazy world. Appreciate you.

        Damian

    • Makes me wonder what happened & where he went in his mind. Watching someone whose clock is ticking on self-destruct mode is rough. Friendships always seem to be the first casualties. Sounds like he choose something not real over value, in my opinion, my friend

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Willow. So glad you connected with write my friend. In the end it was all about him. He only came to me when help was needed where his bandmates couldn’t help. What changed the most was even in those moments when I would help, he questioned every idea. Then would take something he liked I said, and totally reword it into his lines. That may sound petty on it’s face on my part, but it wasn’t like that until the last 6 months we were friends. It was like he doubted me for some reason. I mean all I did was get sober, while he remained on the sauce. Go figure. lol. Appreciate you.

        Damian

    • Best line: funneling booze into a hemorrhaging mind…

      Great work as always Damian!

      Daniel

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Daniel. So glad you connected with the write my friend. I loved that line a lot as well. Appreciate you.

        Damian

    • Fantastic work, my friend. Vivid and sharp.

    • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Mary. So glad you connected with the write my friend. It was for the best I guess, he’s still doing the same thing last I heard. Meanwhile, I got a whole creative family/community first at DU then here at SR. I host, Backstage, and SpotLight. And I’m writing again, I think I did alright on my own. Appreciate you.

      Damian

    • Always a joy reading your writes. Sadly, friendships usually don’t last forever. Great write my friend.

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Keith. So glad you connected with the write my friend. That they don’t, it’s kinda sad when you really think about that little footnote you just mentioned. Appreciate you.

    • Oof…i felt this one like a fist in the gut. Guilt truly is like cancer…eats you up. And fear will wear you down. And they tag team far too well. The amazing thing about your late night musing is that it’s not directed. You let it take the wheel…& where it takes the reader is anyone’s guess. But we’re all buckled in for a fantastic ride, my friend

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Willow. So glad you connected with the write my friend. They are a powerful tag team for sure. I try not to alter lines, other than maybe shaving a word here and there for better flow. But for the most part I don’t have a preconceived notion of what I’m writing about. That’s only on poetry though, proses I usually have an idea of what story I’m telling. The tangents I go on are improvised though. lol. Appreciate you.

    • Guilt provokes necrosis of the soul…
      Great piece Damian. ⚘️

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Jade. So glad you connected with the write my friend. Nice line, that works for me. Appreciate you.

    • I’ve been living with guilt for 30 years … I know

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Sam. So glad you connected with the write my friend. Then you definitely understand, indeed. Appreciate you.

        Damian

    • Damian, I gave up living with guilt long ago. I surrendered it, to a force much greater than I.

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Alexandria. So glad you connected with the write my friend. I too have surrendered a lot of mine as well, to a greater force as well. Except for a very deep and complicated guilt over a situation, and it’s a work in progress at the moment. Appreciate you.

        Damian

    • Life is a ride with different turns. Great ink

    • Guilt sucks. Practice in becoming a sociopath. It will erase all those guilty feelings. Great write Damian.

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Keith. So glad you connected with the write my friend. That it might, but I don’t know if I’d like myself anymore. Although if I was a sociopath I probably wouldn’t care, would I? No, it’s a hard no. lol. Appreciate you.
