Yesterday during our meeting
I was freeing my soul from the chains of the night
I was teaching its eyelashes
How to look at youLook at it, see it flowing between us
Would you call it a wave?
Would you call it a rose? Take it
Crumble it on your lips -

Powerfully penned, Fia. Another excellent write with lots of deep layers my friend. Nicely done. Amazing read as always. Appreciate you, Cuz.

This does have a positive feel to it.
You never know, sometimes acknowledging someone who’s struggling could impact their day in a positive way.
One could only hope! -
I think that too often people know it’s a mask, but they want to believe it’s reality. Because having to see what makes them uncomfortable is more than they’re willing to take on. So we paste on the smile and say we’re fine, and they eagerly choose to believe it so they don’t have to acknowledge the truth. I love that the message in this is to see beyond the surface

Awesome, and very relatable.
Actually, I was telling Del earlier that I want to work on something called “Book Of Scars”. Looks like you beat me to it! Maybe I will, still. But I don’t know if I can not be influenced by your write here. That’s okay!
I had some “issues” when I was a kid. But, as I got older, I realized that I would indeed outlive the demons. And I have. I am extremely mentally tough, for whatever reasons. Yet I do have a part of me that still feels the good out there. Perhaps that is why I enjoy your writes as much as I do. It’s real and easy to relate to.-
The Rattle the Bones series is something I felt I needed to do…for me. I’ve shared bits and pieces of my trauma, but I’ve always been careful to not share chronologically. It’s time to “tell my story” from the beginning, in order. I can’t say it was a pleasant experience, writing and sorting it all out, but it’s done. I can’t share them all at once, so it’s gonna take some time to get them out in the atmosphere. I’m glad to hear you’re considering writing your story. I don’t believe we’re strong because of our trauma, I believe we’re still here because of our strength. Not everyone makes it out intact. If there’s one thing humans share unilaterally, it’s the experience of pain. Write your series, I’ll be here for it

Powerfully penned, Willow. Another excellent write with lots of layers, but also wisdom and guidance my friend. Using one’s voice to heal instead of lashing out.. Hit me like a bag of sledgehammers with this one. The letter format was a cool choice that fit the vibe and your musical accompaniment is precise. Below is the part that struck a chord inside me. Amazing read/listen as always. Thanks for sharing your story.. Appreciate you, Sis.

“your voice is your strongest weapon
I know the urge will be to finally lash out
don’t
use it to heal…
to share how you feel…
you’re not alone
trust me…
I know
with all my love…
me”

This was a piece that I wrote for a challenge on the old site, write a letter to your younger self. It eventually went on the cover of my book. I think there’s power in knowing how strong your expression is. With power comes responsibility. Use it with compassion and understanding. It’s a very healing way to use one’s power, I think. Thank you, bro. I’m glad this one resonated

I love this! Writing letters to ourselves is the most authentic poetry in my opinion.
Sometimes we write to find others who can relate but sometimes it’s meant for ourselves – to find our own sense of inner peace, self worth, all of it.
Again, I love this.
Keep on keeping on chica:)

Hey Fia! I hear you may meet up with Del next month! What! That’s awesome!
I do have a slight burp in the meter in a couple of lines. But I didn’t see a quality edit that I liked, when I tinkered with it. So it stays. I was following the path of action and result moreso, in the progression, so the meter has to have a burp to maintain what i wanted to say. Yeah?
Thank you for the positive vibes!

Beautifully penned, Mark. Another excellent write with clever wordplay and outstanding storytelling my friend. I concur with Fia, it has a rhythm and a flow to it. Amazing read as always. Appreciate you.

Talk about manifesting…this is a solid BOOM in the way of rhythm, movement, and expression. And here y’all are now…still living that hoped for day. 😊

I like a boom ! Who doesn’t. LOL. I know this write has a slight question of aggressive undertones at the beginning. I actually reworded it to calm the idea that it was a forceful thing. But, I wanted to capture the feeling of angst and impatience, so hopefully that is what is seen.
Thank you Willow. Me and Del are hanging in there, with our long distance relationship. We do get together four or five times a year, depending on work schedules, etc. One day I will be there permanently, probably less than a year. No, for sure!
It’s worth the wait. We are a great couple!

I was smiling so much reading this that my heart ached!
You are everything I hoped you’d be plus more.
I also remember this picture! You used it on DUP too!How blessed I feel at this moment, so many years later.
Remembering all the darkest of nights
and the glow of every early morning
Together bound in a discovery of words
Describing how you completely loved me:)Love you!!

I love you.
We took a huge chance, huh. Especially you, flying for the first time!
I dunno, baby, I just knew it was special. You are rare! Writing is a window, whether we mean to open it or not. And I am a great reader. From our messages, then emails, then video calls, then in person, it all went so smooth and natural. Because it was meant to be.
We deserve happiness. And true love. You are incredible.

Thank you Willow for mentioning me and other regulars in this delightful piece.
Made me feel like part of a learned, diverse and decent community.

Hi Willow! I love how this opens and how you see all of us here on the site.
It was a nice reminder for me since I’ve been locked away for the past year writing.
Plus another reminder of where my writing flourished.
It was beside you and everyone you mentioned plus a few others:)
I wish I was on more but please know you and everyone here are always in my thoughts.
You also made Mark’s morning! I got a text telling me about this write!!
Thank you for such a lovely description:)
Right back at ya chica. You are magnificent!-
I feel like the world has become increasingly dark of late and if we don’t celebrate each other and our community, we really miss an opportunity. There were a lot I couldn’t fit in here but I didn’t want to create an epic, so I stuck with the core I interact with most frequently. Do your thing, girl. The community will still be here when you have breathing room 😊

Awwwww! It’s always nice to be acknowledged for some good that we do. And yeah, me and Del may be lovebirds, but we love to write as well.
This is such a snazzy write! I do like the community aspect of the place, for those who actually take part! Like you! -
Amazingly penned, Willow. Wow.. You’ve written an anthem for the site, and a soundtrack for this community of writers that aren’t afraid to wield their pens and share their journeys. Walking these halls is an honor, and I’m grateful for this community and our creative family that gathers around the bonfire from time to time. Excellent lyrics and an amazing musical arrangement as always. I’m assuming this one goes on the “Bonfire” album? You know I want this one.. Appreciate you, Sis.

I love that you chose a positive message to write of. There is never enough of that. So thank you! And the write is well crafted, full of inspiring lines to lift the reader up. Great idea and great result, Fia.
