    POEM #1– Poetry Month

As I step off the back porch,
    into the freshly fallen snow,
I look in all four directions
seeking balance in a new day.

As I walk through the snow,
    Grandmother speaks to me:

    “Aztec, see how the snow
    covers and quenches the Crocuses’ thirst;
how their purple or yellow petals
    reach for t…Read More

    Looking For Nihilism

Looking For Nihilism    Words are funny things. They allow electronic impulses to speak express, even fantasize and create ideas. For a long time there were no words, just grunts screams cries or pointing along with the brush work of facial expressions as our art of communication.   We were young then and everything was new, even the...

    • First, I have to say I love that song. Second the poem is a powerful piece and to feel good at what they have done they first have to feel right. good piece

      • Fia, that cover by Disturbed, is haunting and so appropriate for when I wrote this poem. And while today (2026), there is a political awakening to the horrors perpetrated in our name, and people are actively protesting in the streets again, the majority still hold tightly to this system, to this idea that, while flawed, America is still “good”. But America has never been ‘good” or great. America has always built itself up on the blood and bones of people here and around the world. And until people recognize this and act to get rid of this system, this song, “The Sounds of Silence” will remain powerful.

Thank you Fia, for your comment.

    • Honestly, if I think too hard about what’s happening today, the cruelty being doled out with such casual disregard for humanity, I crack a little inside. The corruption at the top doesn’t upset me as much as the blind hatred and full support the zombies give it. Hatred will be our unmaking and pain is, unfortunately, humanity’s common denominator. This is such a powerful piece and there’s so much going on in my mind now that I’m going to leave it at that and sit down.

      • Willow, it is not an easy thing, to think about the horrors and pain of the world today. It’s a sickness that is growing, and keep growing, unless we dig deeper into our humanity, our humaneness, and stop it. Willow, let me offer you my hand to help you up, to point you towards those who are refusing through nonviolent protest and resistance. There is still hope for humanity.

Thank you Willow, I am glad for your visit and comment. -Curt

    • I like this and I wholehearted agree that one must face their Karma. No running from it.

      • Happy morning, Lady Fia 🌤️

Thank you for looking at this rather sombre little composition on self-observation and responsibility.
If anyone, I knew it would be You who would grasp its true essence.

        Hugs! ⁓ Richard🖌️

    • this is another great Richard..

    Pain

Pain   Pain ran down my leg like it was speaking in tongues, crazed English gibberish that brought tears and chaos. The iron fisted chaos that always wanted more, and I was simply in the way.   I was caught in a downward spiral, down, down, down into a chasm of sharp...

    • I do hope you’re healing now! There’s nothing adequate to describe that level of pain but you sure did it justice.

    • Thank you for your comment and concern, Willow. I am healing, but it’s taking so damn long. It’s been over 3 months now and there is still a lot of pain in the leg and knee. I can hear them talking and laughing. Ice (the solid water type) has become a welcome friend.
      Thanks again Willow!!!

    • Yikes! This past year I had a severe sprained ankle. It felt like it was on fire! It swelled up like an elephant foot.
Went to the ER and did X-rays. Nothing broken thank god!
I can’t imagine how much pain that was when it is actually broken bones.
I’m sure you noticed by now I’m a huge baby when it comes to pain.

I can totally relate to the pain speaking in tongues!

      Very well put Curt.

    Love Sonnet LXXI

Love Sonnet LXXI   I see your face in my dreams, your red hair, blown by your breath, smells of your jasmine shampoo, and lies across my breast.   Yaraa, why do you haunt me? Why does my mind always return to you, to your soft skin, and savory...
