• How you'll know I Love You (sonnet doublet)

Here's one pulled from the shelf and dusted-off I thought our onsite romantics might enjoy. It may be too long for some … you decide.INTRO: In as much that I knew this piece would be about love, the decision...

    • Ohhh, Dear Lady 🥀

You must keep mindful, waiting at that window ~ whispers light certain kinds of flames, you know.
So sweet, your efulgent encouragements, Adira; surely, a humble bard (such as I) would never expect to outshine those many grateful fellows in your life who’ve come to adore you … I’m sooo pleasantly, sooo sumptuously surprised!
Love your beguiling sense-of-humor, and your most lovely compliment. ; )

      Thank you ever-so warmly, Adira! ⁓ Richard🖌

    • I have to tell you, Richard, I feel like I’ve been driven to your castle in horse and carriage, ushered out into a flourishing rose garden, and wisped up into your arms bridal style over the threshold. Take me to your bedroom and the balcony that overlooks your domain. Carry me up the winding staircase and lay me on fresh linens. Strip me naked in your ravishing furry. Take me, Richard… not as a king takes his queen, but as he takes his young mistress during a heated fit of passion inside the dark, hidden chambers where her shrill cries of mating remain dampened. Read me your sonnets when I’m strewn across your bed, obliterated. Let the finches build their nests while you play in mine. Kiss my rose and everything you see. That’s how I’ll know that you love me.

      • Goodness, DK 😳

Your graciously gorgeous review rivals my Sonnets in its compellingly fervent bliss, in wantoned kiss, for it’s all THIS ‘n more, but that’s what loving’s for … oh-MY!

Loving you’s what poetry was invented for … now, to make it fit the page without burning down the site!🔥
I’ve received reviews, and Reviews; yet, it’s hard to ever recall a REVIEW such as THIS!

With a weak-kneed, melted into my socks … grateful thanks, Dear Poetess! ⁓ Rascal🖌

    • I’m hugely impressed with your understanding of poetic element.
So, you are Richard the Rascal. Let me put that down. This is another amazing piece with emphasis on personification and symbolism. There’s obviously a metaphorical significance to the changing season, specifically fall to winter. It’s interesting to note that while you give leaves many characteristics of humans in this piece, they lack the unique capacity for understanding… at least, that’s the perspective of the speaker. Your final stanza is a fantastic summation.

This is top shelf material, Richard.
      xoxo

      • Graciously spake, Dear Poetess🥂

Your coaxing words are sweet as honeysuckle to a hopeful bard’s susceptible ear … most especially, from one so poetically accomplished and sophisticated as yourself.
A few devices I tend to favor are color, texture, analogy, simile, and nature … I’m so pleased you’ve recognized their presence in this rather poignant little piece.

Thank you ever-so warmly, Lady DK, for your always welcomed accolades! ⁓ Richard the Rascal🖌

    • Hi, M’Good Friend! ✌🏼

How great it is, Tim, to be greeted here with one of your appreciatively expressed and inspiringly encouraging reviews, that always seems to grasp my poetry’s core essence.
Yes, like You, I tend to enjoy a good dose of metaphoric imagery in my pieces.

Thank you, Syr, for enjoying this rather sad Free Verse piece! ⁓ Rascal🖌

PS: On your recommendation, I had to check the site out … do you know how one edits their poetry?

    • This is a beautiful telling of what one feels towards another.

    • Wow! You’re a Wordsworth Rascal! Damn, you know how to melt a heart, don’t you? I’m a rhyme and meter girl with much of my poetry, so I appreciate the elegance of this piece despite its lack of contemporary appeal. The message is anti-materialistic and wholly wholesome with a massive slice of humility. You’re slipping in that age factor, that timeless long-lasting relationship that so many country songs emphasize.

It’s worth a roll in the hay any day, Rascal. Put a daisy in my hair.

      xoxo

      • My, oh-MY, Lady-Poet 🌻
What a lucky coincidence that I just happened to come upon a little daisy this morning while strolling along, imagining someone whose lovely hair it might grace, of what it might lead to, of whom….er, I seem to have (somehow) wandered-off into fantasyland. 😌
Damn, yourself … you’ve quite a knack for inspiring your own rising stimulations⁓*
Yes, M’Lady, how unfortunate such a huge, powerful, and beautiful expanse of poetry has become ignored and limited to talking/prose (not really poetic prose) in the erroneous name of contemporary advancement … what a shame to watch thw art and depths of poetic skill dwindle to a trickle. Ahhh, I could soapbox your lovely ears off … LOL!

How sweetl to be so completely grasped … and, mmm, what a lavish bouquet of thought you’ve inspired … right side or left? ⁓ Rascal🖌

    • This is one of my favorite subjects, its a poem of sweet sincerity..
