You are an honorable writer, Damian. The freedom to write and express is a gift and you’ve shown you are a prolific poet who many can relate to.

This is so deep. You have a way of making people think.
I am ever-changing, but I still remain true to who I am.-
Thanks Alexandria for your lovely comments.
Sometimes I think my words sound a bit preachy but they are never meant to be.

There are so many great lines in this one. I think the one that sticks the strongest with me is:
“Complacency is a recipe for disaster”
Not paying enough attention to the gravity of a situation is so dangerous. All it takes is a single grain to tip the scales. Gotta watch the build-up. Your mind never ceases to amaze me, my friend

Coming to a dark truth is scary after a long search isn’t it?
Favorite line: Distractions occupy the symbol minded -
G’mornin’, Damian 🌤
The enjoyment of your fine writes goes well with this hot wake up mug-a lapsang souchong.Such a beautifully rendered, smoothly flowing set of unmetered Quatrains (in a-b-a-b spot-on rhymes) sing a sad song, indeed.
They say, “We must play the cards we’re dealt!” But, I, as You, have obviously been dealt some tragically sorry hands.
The one worst aspect of romantic relationships your keenly-writ lines bring to mind, is the painful reality of unrequited feelings and emotions.“Understand I’m living the fucking song
And your loyalty lies in remaining numb”Brilliant work, Syr Poet … thank you for sharing! ⁓ Rascal🖌

Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Rascal. So glad you connected with the write my friend. Terrible hands indeed, and I didn’t do much in my early life to help matters. Like becoming an alcoholic, just lead me farther off the path. This one has layers, on one hand there is nothing wrong with a romantic relationship poem, so I don’t mind it being viewed as such. But this one is more about a songwriting partner/friend who I loved like a brother. He was family, until that was no longer possible. They kinda overlap. lol. Thank you for your wonderful commentary. Appreciate you.

I hope I never have to rely on AI to write for me. Sometimes I’ll use a proofreader to correct spelling and punctuation but that’s it. The human element is what makes poetry real. The compassion, the anger, the love, the empathy, and even the laughter are all something that made men and women write poems in the first place.
The future is scary being we won’t know what’s real and what isn’t.
