Absolutely gobsmackingly brilliant,powerful,honest,scary and sad.
When I read this, the only question. I had was why?Why does one keep holding on when there is nothing left to hold on to?
Why,if God exists, would he torture his children? Why are we even alive?
Take care my friend. The tide can turn quickly and bring you back to shore.🙏

Tired,, but alive, broken, but the pieces are all there, they fit together, like the way rain brings flowers. Our tears fill the oceans where all life began. And our scars (whether visible or unseen) become the instruments of our music and can be heard in the cosmos. Willow, your poem resonates like violin strings, hauntingly and with grace. Not sure if you see or feel it, but you give us all the strength to continue, to disturb the universe, like pebbles thrown in the pond, creating ripples that go on forever.
I do not know you, Willow, and have only read a few of your poems, but I am happy you are here.

Powerfully penned, Willow. The armor does get thinner with time I think it’s part of facing mortality. At least that’s part of it anyways. There are layers as I always say, but it’s tiring indeed. Time catches all of us eventually, but our scars lend to wisdom, even those earned by trial and error. That’s what popped in my head anyways. Excellent write my friend, I can relate. Appreciate you.

This is the first piece of yours I have read, but HER suggested you for membership in our new Spoken Word group. I took her at her word, and though I have not heard any audios by you yet, I wanted to take a peek at just some of your words first. If you have audios, I certainly want to hear them, on the strength of the words you have left here, not what someone has told me. This is brilliant work, Willow, tough, strong, gut-wrenching, sad; it touches all the emotions and pulls the reader in. I will read more, and I want to hear what your work SOUNDS like.

It sounds like emotion unfiltered, I imagine. Still new to me. Hopefully you’ll find it interesting. Thank you

I had to listen and read again. This is so kickass. And I had to come back to confess: I have been there, Willow. Spent months with other versions of me in that cold, white setting, surrounded by so many suffering with me there, with only ourselves and our pain for company. This piece brought all of that back … so many years ago, … so many miles since then. Thank you for this.

Corruption and ignorance go hand in hand. Yes, I whole heartedly agree with you. We must see the truth and act on it. Powerful write.

As if you read my mind and what I was thinking as as articulate. 🙂
I almost got ht by one of those flagy pickups yesterday. 💚 -

Powerfully penned, Willow. Into the book it belongs! This is’t a write it’s a statement my friend. Excellent work. Appreciate you.

WHOA!!! Some truth telling going on here. It didn’t fall on deaf ears, cause I be listening. America has always been 2 countries within one country. Today’s fascists were yesterday’s slave owners and slave bounty hunters. Thank goodness there are still wide awake decent people who in their millions took to the streets a few days ago. And even better, there is, beginning Nov 5, the determined, nonviolent, movement to oust these MAGA maggots’ regime.
Yes, it is often true in history that people were warned but didn’t listen, sometimes people just need to have a fire lit under their arses, before they can see straight. I think we poets have a role to play in this eye opening!! Your poem Willow is a welcomed salvo (or perhaps to be consistent with the metaphor), a welcomed match for that fire.
Thanks for the much need poem Willow.

Oh, I’ve been bellowing. A few here can tell you I’ve been mouthing these frustrations for a hot minute. We do what we can and encourage everyone to do their part, whatever that is. That’s how we make change. I just wish humans weren’t so determined to repeat their worst mistakes. History is the best teacher…which is why they’re trying to bury history. Don’t want anyone to see their playbook. Thank you, Curt

Raw and unflinching. You’ve caught the weight of complicity and the ache of resistance in a way that feels both urgent and true. An incredible read!
-
Okay, now I know. You not only know how to write beautiful, powerful words , you also know how to deliver them. I certainly want to speak to you, Willow. Please visit with me.
-
I’ve been expressing myself through poetry for years. Decades, really. Only recently been messing with spoken word. I’ve never been able to find anyone who could read it as I feel it. Some things I leave naked, no spoken word. Thank you
-
I certainly understand that. Not everyone here who has posted work reads it themselves. I do, but it’s because I am also an actor. I’ve spent my life on stage, in one guise or another, and I find it difficult to hand it to another to perform.
-
Due to personal issues, I am unable to voice them myself. I have to rely on AI to get it right. And it takes a lot of fight to get it right. I wish I could simply read them myself
-
Well, if there is anything I can do to help, let me know. That include doing the voiceover for you sometime, or a part of one… Anything. And I take direction well! Just don’t tell my wife I said that.

Dude you don’t have to write dark pieces, you’re a lover. The world needs far more light flowing through love than our darkness Halloween pieces. Tight one dude
-
I have a few dark pieces. But it isn’t something I like to dwell within too much. Yaknow? Creative writing to me is also a form of escapism. So I prefer not to escape to the darkness much. It’s therapeutic to write ourselves out of the glum. At least it seems to me anyway.
Thank you, again, for the support my man. I’m probably taking a break from posting material for a bit. But I will still sign in and catch up on some reading. I do enjoy good reads!

This is full of emotion and beautiful imagery.
As writers we get it. Totally get it. Our dreams are what encourage us to write. That extraordinary feeling of connection with something beyond our grasp. So we grab the pen and off we go with our words. Trying to convey what we feel in our own sense of style and tone. You never disappoint. Your writing is exceptional because you’re exceptional. You have mastered expression my love. This is a beauty. With much love and respect
Adelphina-
Well I respect your opinion!
You know that this is obviously to you, about you. If it’s any form of a love poem, or prose, you know that you are the star in it. Because you’re the brightest thing I’ve ever seen. Inspiration is so easy with you in my life. I’m blessed now. I have a focus to look towards. You!
And thank you, for being you. Although we have real life, it’s nice to be cozy here too!

Thank you Sir Tim.
As everyone probably knows (from DUP world) Del and I were not on that site looking for a personal connection like this. It just built itself and now here we are. Maybe that was the key, we were not looking. Sometimes when we least expect it… so they say.
I do think, though, that creative writing is a very good indicator of “like minds” understanding the processes and such. It can be a lonely hobby really. And timing, perhaps. The right place at the right time and all that!
I’m hoping that your successes become excessive soon! In all that you seek.

Beautifully penned, Mark. Love the title, this is an excellent write my friend. I can identify with that process, not always knowing where a write will lead sometimes not till the very end. I knew I wasn’t the only one. Appreciate you.

Man, I just get these little visions/ideas and it makes me want to write it out. Yet is obviously never complete until we begin the creative crafting. Then who knows! LOL
I think a lot of times it’s the mood that accompanies that brief vision, that guides the words. Yeah?
Also, who hasn’t written a love poem, or fifty, about finding love, and having it. Whether it’s a current reality or not, we all have been there I’m sure. It becomes sort of guide, too, because you’ve spent so much time thinking about it, that much of it can fall into place.
Thank you, Damian. I think I’m going to take a break from writing new material, because I’m neglecting my chore of getting my book together! Del is much more focused, obviously, than I am. LOL

Totally absorbing, the more I scrolled down. I found it intriguing to learn of how real you wrote her – how immersing that discovery felt from a reader’s point of view. We don’t always know where our muse will lead us, do we? But oh, how lovely the discovery we find!
-
Yes, that perfect lover, the soulmate. In my life she was dreamt of but never found. Like you, I have written about her and dreamt about her. I’ve tried to paint her image, even though I didn’t know what she looked like. Your poem perfectly describes how we feel about that special someone.

I was talking to a co-worker the other day, about if we should tell our loved ones or not if we are “terminal”. Because it changes the dynamics of the relationship right away. Happiness is hard to have then. It’s always bittersweet from then on.
So, I began this write based on the dilemma. But then the whole moth aspect gave me a different approach, like a focal point away from the gloom.
I will undoubtedly hack at this some more, slightly, but for now this is what I got.
Thank you honey! It’s a bit heavy I know. Just a write I swear! 😉 -
This is a wonderful sad and bittersweed writing on a difficult and heavy topic, dear Styxian! The moth as a spirit guide is a well chosen and meaningful symbol. A moth knows how to die. It focuses only on the light and its overwhelming attraction towards it. I think death can show us what really matters in life. Gratitude for everything we have experienced in life, for the people we love and for all of life here on Earth. Of course, a terminal disease comes with many burdens and hardships but it also gives you the chance to say goodbye and to surrender completely to love – just like a moth does.
-
I’ve dealt enough with death over the years. Sometimes it takes awhile for the grieving to set in, too. We try to focus sometimes, on other things less final. I tend to pick simplistic metaphoric things because its easier to relate to. And yes, the moth is always reaching for the light. Perhaps as we humans do, when we must go.
Thank you kindly, Elke. Though it was only creative writing and not reality, it is something that awaits us all in some form. Even as the survivor.

Jeez Mark, this is beautifully heart breaking and offers much food for thought. The moth motif is a clever touch.

Yes the big “C” through neighbors and family we are familiar with this destroyer of home, family, and bank accounts. We remember while younger a neighbor was sent back home to die with stomach cancer. Dude you would not believe the screams, the entire neighborhood felt relief with his passing. Maybe, just maybe this moth was also is spirit guide. To tight dude
-
I’ve been around that sonofabitch death too much. It tries to numb us, but we’re too human to be too cold.
I would believe the screams. We had a guy gut-shot and it took forever to get the medic helicopter to us. He hollered so much some guys started yelling at him to STFU! It is not like TV or movies, at all.
Thanks for the Props!

Brilliantly penned, Mark. This one has layers and depth my friend, and it pulled on the heartstrings as well. Excellent write. Appreciate you.

I enjoyed this. It is full of images and captures the rolling duality of life and death, with style.

I feel this. Know that you are not alone feeling this way. the statement of “I am tired” cut deep. At one point the feeling of it all and feeling that no one gave a damn was so much…let’s just say I would not be here if I did not have someone. We all do not have that “touch stone” person. I do understand.
