    Born Like This

Poetry wasn’t a choice. It showed up at my doorlike a small, rabid animalI needed to nurture. Like a scar, like my eye color. Before book sales, before applause, before anyone gave a damn. I was jaded by color.Sunsets weren’t cute. They were edible —pink and orange,soul...

Spring, summer, fall and winter.Sometimes weather so cold you whimper.During springs, warm weather. And pink cherry blossoms.Even if it rains heavily today.I still have your presence through the day. As petals fall all around the air. It's the music and beauty we often share.Pick a...

    • Elke! What a tribute to a guy that deserves it! Damn good poem and funny. Damian does rock!

    • Beautifully penned, Elke. Into the book it belongs! Clever write my friend, I dig this. Thank you! I’m not one for typical critique that’s for sure. But what I am is supportive to those in this community who share their craft to tell their story about their journey in this life. It’s not always easy to tell certain stories in my life, but sometimes it’s needed therapy. I try to look through that same lens when my fellow poets and poetesses share their stories. I want everyone to feel encouraged to write and to feel that someone out there is listening/reading their work. Most of all I want them to know that they’re never alone. Appreciate you, Elke.

      • That’s what I also do. I try to transform my personal experiences and my reflections on spirituality, philosophy, politics, love and several other areas of life into literature.
I’ve noticed that for many people it is easier to criticize than to offer praise and recognition. That is not only sad, it also contributes to keeping our whole planet on a lower level of energy. Every word we speak and even every thought we have influence the way the earth develops. The negative energy of envy, hatred or greed results in more acts of violence. People like you my friend, are healers of the whole system. It’s not only about important political decisions, most of all it’s about the little acts of loving kindness each and every one of us can perform to make this world a better place. Thank you I myself have a penchant for the dark, morbid, and sarcastic side of writing., dear Damien! May your attitude be contagious!

    • This is so perfect. Elke. I agree we should do the Damian
