    The Terror in the Community

The Terror In The Community. The community was designed as a euphoric cornucopia of green, lush plant life, all underwater in a 25-gallon tank. Introducing into this tank were three. You heard me, three fanciful goldfish. One was an Oranda that...

    • Cleverly penned, Fia. Excellent write my friend, I always enjoy your amazing storytelling. Appreciate you, cuz.

    • Fantastic. Love it, Fia.

    • Why not just flush Maurice?? Get rid of the non team player! maybe he can go rule the sewers or something, LOL.
I’m just being logical! Or put his ass with a male Beta (Japanese Fighting fish). No more Maurice!

    • Chère F.,
I’d love it if this would find you mellow and at ease, just before the weekend.

I’ve read your poem and I don’t understand it.
      blunt Dutch analysis.
But I love the kiss by Brancusi (singer museum Leiden the Netherlands) without understanding too.
I love some of Rothko’s work too.

Understanding isn’t always about what you/I can grasp at any time!
I love this write of yours and I think it’s raking me a little more time.

      So:
      Please be patient with me!
I’ll be back, I promise! Have a very nice weekend…..
Warm Waving from a distance, Gus

    • Cook Maurice and have him as an appetizer. He’d be with you forever. Great story Fia.

    • This starts playful but slowly tightens into something darker.
Power and cruelty don’t need much space to show themselves.

    • Clean slate works also. Lol

    • I think you’ll need to build a little underwater jail and keep Maurice there as punishment.
This was great, yes it’s frustrating that your fishes kept dying but I love how you told this story not just as the observer but almost like a deity that you had power but they kept dying on you while you weren’t looking.
      Awesome work.

    • The Basic Law states that human dignity in inviolable. But dignity, physical and mental health have long since become the playball of abuse of power and corruption. Very well expressed. Powerful writing dear Damian!

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Elke. So glad you connected with the write my friend. I agree with you 100%, you hit the nail on the head. Appreciate you.

        Damian

    • I hate corruption. Seems that it’s becoming more obvious with no one taking charge. Awesome piece dude!

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Keith. So glad you connected with the write my friend. It’s the only thing besides hate and cruelty that they are transparent about. Appreciate you, brother.

    • When reality warps, the shapeshifters ascend as keepers of the shifting veil.
Only those who guard the ancient flame of truth withstand the empire of forgetting.
      Great words Damian.

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, PAR. So glad you connected with the write my friend. Nice commentary brother, you’re a wordsmith. Love it! Appreciate you.

    • A terrific summary of mankind’s terrifying – and worsening – predicament. Excellent Damian. Harriet-Jacqui xx

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, HJ. So glad you connected with the write my friend. Wish it wasn’t the case, but unfortunately it’s quite terrifying indeed. Appreciate you.

    • Damian this poem brings light to everything that is going on. Really good cuz.

    • This reads like a warning flare shot straight into the dark.
The anger is focused, and the clarity makes it hit harder.

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Thomas. So glad you connected with the write my friend. That’s what I was going for brother. Appreciate you.

    • I literally sat on my hands for a minute so I didn’t launch into immediate rant. The whole purpose of their actions is multifold, I think. First and foremost, create fear and stir up animosity and hatred. Second, fill their privately owned concentration camps for free labor. And third, though definitely not least, continue the trafficking started by the big name these days. These people need to be stopped, prosecuted and locked away forever. Powerful, my friend

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Willow. So glad you connected with the write my friend. I’m 100% on board with that assessment. Their actions are definitely multifold I agree. I seen something on project 2026, it pretty much picks up where 2025 left off. It even had floor plans for the concentration camps, they’re trying to build the 4th Reich in my opinion. Appreciate you.

    A Dream I Had While Asleep, January 20th 2026

A Dream I Had While Asleep, January 20th 2026     The air in my grandparents’ house tasted of woodsmoke and old memories, a stillness that usually feels like an ending. But then she was there. Marsha. Not as a memory, but...

      • Deep gratitude my friend. This story, based on a dream about my late former wife, was the most emotional dream I have ever had about here. Very glad you enjoyed this, my friend. That means so much to me. Thank you so much.

        John

    • Beautiful piece John. Well written and marvelously executed.

      • Gracias Visions. Very happy you enjoyed this dream story about the visitation from the beyond from my late wife. Thank you from my heart.

        John

    • This is a lovely story. Love this line
“a reminder that even in dreams, our love carries the weight of our fragility”

      • Thank you so much Fia. Glad you enjoyed this. This vignette was based entirely on a dream I had a couple of nights ago. Much appreciated.

        John

    • Dreams always have some kind of meaning behind them. Trying to figure that meaning out is the hard part. Perhaps the lost dress was a representation of words that were never spoken. Or desires never totally met. The ending is warm and affectionate. As a poet or writer, dreams can be of value, which in this case, was beneficial for a good story with a happy ending. 🙂

      • Tim I love your insights here. Indeed you illuminate he hidden nature of meaning in dreams. Indeed, I do think the lost dress held a meaning. As did the atm machine. I could imagine the atm machine meaning that the love we had was never really about money but that she was looking for something more than what money can buy from me. Thank you so much for sharing your insightful thoughts here. They were greatly appreciated.

    • Powerfully penned, Brenda. Excellent write my friend, it always helps knowing someone understands and has our back. Appreciate you.

    • Chère C.,
In the Netherlands, we believe that everyone has ‘een rugzakje’. A backpack, but the addition of ‘je’ can’t be translated as far as I know. It’s there to indicate that sometimes it’s heavy and sometimes less. If I make any sense.

In this rugzakje we all carry things from present and past (mostly).
The thing for others, is to accept other rugzakjes too. I hear what you say, and at the same time I know that there will be more people who will support and embrace you.

The days will be getting longer. I hope that more hours of light will strengthen you.

      Warm regards, Gus

    • A great piece written for your husband. Nicely executed!
