      "AWAKEN!"

"A w a k e n !"         Surround our hearts with endless song,            across this world of lies.         Let's listen close to what went...

      • And it doesn’t help that all our leaders seem to be making every move to have more and more and more power.

The people’s voices these current days are just “blowin’ in the wind.”

Love the sentiment and the feel of this piece.

      • Thank you Jacob,
        Yes, I totally agree!!
        Thank you for your review.
        Appreciate it,
        Lisa

      • Powerfully penned, Lisa. Excellent write my friend, there are so many casualties in war. Appreciate you.

      • Thank you so much Damian for taking the time to review my writing.

      • Lisa,
I have long thought that war is the main identifier of humankind. The only question is, where is the mine where we can dig for our “humanity?” Where does “human kindness” come from? I mean is it “shame for who we really are” so, we try to justify ourselves? It seems that no matter how good our intentions, the end is always a disaster, and nothing we build can last. So here we are dancing in the desert, just trying to carry on…
        Vol

      • Yes, great line “Dancing in the Desert” and oh so true.
Thank you for reading my poem Vol

      • As far as I’m concerned – if war is such a successful event – why has there been more than one??? Who set all others going and managed to have weapons ready and waiting? Why have some countries managed to remain neutral and not be drowned in white feathers? Why hasn’t time produced enought wisdom to choose leaders who can discuss what needs discussing sanely, intelligently, unselfishly, with quiet wisdom and HONESTY?

Your words are sane and helpful, honest and sans greed – seems wars are begun by anything and anyone with entirely the opposite attitude. How and why? Does jingoism have a big part in it or what?

      Reveries

Cluttered with memories of almost too much, my world is mine and - happy, happy!     I well remember your body making shadows on the wall, fingers playing ivories towards my laughter.  Strange man you but wonderful: such a...

      • It reads like whirlwind romance tangled up in finer details. “Fingers playing ivories towards my laughter” carries a poetic notion within the telling of story and fantastic reality. He’s a lucky man to have you and you’re lucky to have this strange man in return! Compellingly positive….

        • What a generous and understanding review, Benjamin Scraps. Thank you so very much. I was quite pleased with the quote you mention!

      • Joy,
You know, live wears many different costumes, and is a quick-change artist, too. In the sensory overload of 21st century life, it seems an impossibility to stop long enough to see anything, really. When was the last time you knew of a new “painted lady house?” No, todays houses are all little boxes because no one has the time for beauty, any more.
        Vol

        • Vol, many thanks for your detailed response, it is much appreciated. I love butterflies, consequently provide for them and winged everything, best as possibly can. Have added cool areas virtually N.S.E and West on my land. As a garden designer and keen environmentalist, I aim to protect rather than harm or hurt any living creature.

      • It is refreshing to see new “voices” in here. Yours is quite entertaining and I like how it isn’t routine anything. I read a few of your writes, to get an idea of what the author is about. You’re top notch.

      • Many thank yous for such a generous review, truly mean that. Must admit, I write as I think – randomly! Obviously a little editing is done but probably not enough – but I try.

The topnotch will do very nicely and is much appreciated. But, the pressure’s on now!!! 🙂

      HAND~IN~HAND

Hand-In-Hand.... Her tired eyes saw more than I'll ever know; long silv'ry hair piled high upon her head, the clean fresh scent of times so long ago ... warm stinging tears are those I often shed. Remembering her laughter through our years, when we walked...

      • Beautifully said, Lisa. The bond between mother and daughter never fades if they’re both in good standing with each other. Welcome to the site. (Relic).

      • I agree, this is a beautiful sonnet.

        • Thank you so much Fia…
I just posted Awaken but I can not get my image cenetered.
And I also can not get rid of the space between the lines… Is that just the way it has to be on your site?
          Lisa

          • You’re welcome I took the liberty to center your picture and aluminate the spacing. You can of course edit it to how you want.
To center your picture >highlight it >click on the center align bar. It is 4 horizontal lines.
To eliminate the spacing> you click on the backspace >then click the shift enter at the same time.
I was told it happens with some computers but not all. I have the same situation.

            • Hi Fia,
I spent forever trying to move the image and take out the extra spacing….
Thank you so much for doing this for me.
Would you mind terrible fixing Hand~In~Hand?
I will post another one and try what you suggest.
              Lisa,still in Spain

      • Thank you so much Peter…
New to this site and finding it a big challenge to post exactly the way it is on my computer.
The image on my Awaken poem is to the left… but it should be centered.

      • A beautiful beginning, and I expect it shall continue so. Well done 🌼

      • This poem hits deep. Reminds me of my mother. Hard childhood, lots of pain…was always in her cupboard…she is free of that now.
thank you for this write, Lisa.

      • Thank you so much for your thoughtful review Jacob,
        Lisa

      • This is touching. I didn’t have the best relationship with my mother when she died, although it was improving. For that reason, I enjoy seeing how things should have been, and your lovely words do just that.

      • Thank you so much Sam for taking the time to review my very first dinner.

        • Just looked back at my reply to you Sam… I was on my phone when I replied and now see that Sonnet turned into dinner… so weird…
