Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Willow. So glad you connected with the write my friend. I knew I wasn’t alone in feeling and seeing this happening around us. It is faster than most of us can catch our breath. The internet is a rabbit hole, to much time there tends to rot the mind. It can’t be one’s only means of existence, we also need human connection and more than that we need to stay attached to life outside being online. I thought it was important to repeat as well. It may end up on the album. Appreciate you.

hello Damian this one hurts on a personal level my son in part duing to poverty and hopelessness drank himself to death at 37 he just wanted to be able to get his kids school clothes and other necessites I helplwssy watched on being relegated to poverty because of my poor mental health I fear a lot in this climate where people are driven to desparte meaure great write ❤️

Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Brenda. So glad you connected with the write my friend. It’s a vicious cycle of sorts, people are being driven to self-medicating because they can’t make it in this world. The system is rigged against everyone but the corporations and the billionaires. I fear it as well, not knowing how far some are willing to go. So sorry about your son my friend. The younger generation has it rough out there in this unforgiving world. Poverty and mental health seem to never get the attention they require. Appreciate you.

Well, this being the first write of the year, you started out with a mic drop moment. We all must go home eventually, but before then, when are we going to come together and help each other? We do stay separated, and those who try to connect get accused of having a hidden agenda when all they want is connection. A sense that they are not alone. This is so good cuz.
-
Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Fia. So glad you connected with the write my friend. I thought I’d try to set the bar high. lol. I agree with you 100 % cuz, a lot of good people become jaded over time, it’s important that they know that they’re not alone. We need to learn to love one another, so many wiser men and women than I have said that in the past, but like all history it seems we keep making the same mistakes. Not all of us of course are so easily fooled, that’s why hope is alive and those who still believe are never truly alone. Appreciate you, cuz.

This speaks of the poor, the homeless, to me. Getting them help is like jumping through hoops. The wealthy stay rich and ignore them. Those in power are absent. The government make promises, and forget them. Life in the real world is a gauntlet to be navigated. And so it goes….
-
Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Tim. So glad you connected with the write my friend. It is a vicious cycle indeed. Hoops that are tangled in a ton of red tape. They do make empty promises to get elected, then throw us overboard once they take office. It is a gauntlet for sure. Appreciate you.

There’s a raw, unflinching pulse here—I can feel the ache in each line, the weight of life bending the soul. The repetition of that fatigue hits hard, making the reader live every step of the weariness and isolation. Very powerful.
-
Your brilliance and talents shine in this very powerful & well written piece. Raw, revealing and so very real. Nice work Damian. Happy New Year!
-
This is excellent Damian & what’s more, I have been thinking along very similar lines .. Ragged & real just as it should be ..
-
This strikes us all to the core, unfortunately. it’s like we are skirting the line of endtimes. Every day I check to see if the next big war has broken out. When it does, America is in for a rude awakening. Obviously, the biggest complaint will be the even higher costs of living, and not the loss of life. Values are askew.
Your write is a keen testament to this all. We the people will be pawns, still.
Excellent visionary write, Damian.-
Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Mark. So glad you connected with the write my friend. I just write how I see it actually, like observing the moves on a chessboard. It’s not a good time to be starting wars, not that anytime is good. If you ever watched wrestling you’ll know what I mean. We turned heel. Plain and simple. Appreciate you.

Your wallop of a write had me nodding in agreement. So many truths are nestled in every line. Love will indeed live forever! Outstanding write, my friend.

Dear D,
Inspirational to be sure. This write was a movie short where I could envision the hero if the piece roaming from one stanza to the next recognizing the differentiation of God and truth vs ai and evil. Great write. H🌷

” Shadows on the wall are growing
Coming to poison what God built ”
Those words were written with a hammer and chisel.
Dope overall vibe
Diggin the positive outro, brother…Much respect

Sigh…where to start? I agree with Naaj up there. 👆 Those lines are definitely carved in granite. There’s a loss of humanity occurring on so many levels today. AI is replacing human labor, taking human paychecks and means of living. But AI does what man tells it. It’s not out there knocking on doors and handing out resumes. It’s the greed of man dehumanizing their fellows that’s doing the damage. The fact that we have a deranged overstuffed cheese puff feeding frenzy to his blind acolytes speaks volumes for the state of man’s moral compass right now. Every decision they’re making is destructive…to the earth (our host) and to its guests (us and wildlife). Yeah, I got rolling but this one took me to so many places. Keep carving those lines, my friend, and I’m sure I’ll keep ranting
-
Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Willow. So glad you connected with the write my friend. Like I told Naaj, I love those lines as well. I agree with you as I tend to do, I saw a story today where Chat GPT is causing people to commit crimes and hurt others and themselves. It needs to be regulated at the very least, but that ain’t happening with the Cheeto in power. These tech bros are accessories to the most corrupt regime after all. Man’s moral compass is damn near broken. lol. Always enjoy your commentary, even though I get you riled up. Appreciate you.

Well look at you being all dark after Christmas:)
Each section had its own dark point of view.
I really enjoyed the stanza about evil hiding in the mundane
It reminds me of the saying in the Bible. Idle hands are the devils workshop.Great piece amigo!

A bittersweet piece, so beautiful and sad! I am glad that you reassured us that you are doing well , dear Damian!

Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Elke. So glad you connected with the write my friend. Well I didn’t want anyone worrying about me, and I was happy while I wrote it. It’s kinda like a rain storm while the sun is still shining kinda vibe going on here. So bittersweet fits it perfectly. Appreciate you.

This reads like a slow descent through psychological aftermath—the kind that doesn’t announce itself loudly but corrodes over time. The imagery stays grounded while the emotion escalates, especially the idea of evil hiding in the mundane. Quiet, heavy, and effective.
-
Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Thomas. So glad you connected with the write my friend. You got all that out of this write? lol. I’m just joshing you. Seriously though, your commentary really means a lot to me as well as your continued support my friend. You’re a gifted writer and I’m a fan of yours as well. Appreciate you.

I can see why others see this is dark, but I read it more as a reflective piece on darker moments. Like sitting under moonlight and remembering full darkness of troubled days…having just enjoyed the warmth of a fire and full spirit. There are definitely elements that lean into darker aspects, but if we’re not peering into those corners, are we really paying attention, or are we just living in denial? To be all sunshine and daisies in the current environment is pure folly. I don’t see dark, I see the shadows that follow us wherever we go. The hope that we still find light. Follow that muse where it takes you, my friend. It never leads you astray
-
Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Willow. So glad you connected with the write my friend. I always enjoy your commentary, this one is reflective in a sense. Darkness does hide in those corners always lurking in shadow and watching our every move. To believe it doesn’t exist is denial I agree 100% Appreciate you.

Dear D,
For me this was on fire. I kept thinking of close calls trying to stay in my lane at the same time of feeling lured into another. With just enough sliver of light to keep the full on pitch black from engulfing my soul. Intense write. Great piece. H🌷

I like how this moves through doubt and self-interrogation without rushing to answers. The questions feel earned, not rhetorical.
-
There’s a simultaneous sense of strength and uncertainty in this that drag at me. Like you know you made the right choice, but how close was it to the edge? That feeling I know all too well. If we’re not reviewing actions, we’re probably doomed to repeat them. Goes for individually as well as globally. Another layered one. Keep chasing thought, my friend. You always bring gold when you do
-
Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Willow. So glad you connected with the write my friend. I think your commentary is a pretty spot on analysis, and it definitely applies to both. I’m too old to learn a different trick when it comes to chasing the truth my friend. lol. Appreciate you.

Love this! Skepticism is not paranoia, though gaslighters may disagree. Experience provides a roladex of patterned behaviors, and when there’s multiple red flags its no longer paranoia but an obvious truth.

I’ve been feeling this much myself of late. There’s a sense of division, of isolation, being forced upon us daily. The atrocities come so fast and so hard we can barely catch a breath before the next hits. We have this vast universe available to us in the internet. And it’s that very universe that’s locking us away from each other – ironic, that. It takes conscious movement to stay connected with each other and our humanity. But it’s taking a toll. I love that you repeat that verse of needing to just go home. Enough is enough, we’re tired. Brilliant write, my friend
