    • Cleverly penned, Rascal. Excellent write my friend. He’s a walking punchline. lol. Appreciate you.

      Damian

      • Thank you, Damian, most gratefully for the encouraging kudos,

I hope your holidays have been filled with joy and laughter.
Yes, Trump is quite the iniquitous bump.

        You’re appreciated, too, M’Friend! ⁓ Richard🖌

    • Hoi @Rascal
Light verse has a very very special place in the hearts of the Dutch.
There was a time, Some 40 years ago, that I met THE promotor of Dutch higgeldy piggeldies/olleke bollekes every first Tuesday of the month.

So i must have written hundreds of them. Most of them as part of lyrics for songs, almost all of them in Dutch.
And a few in English. One I remember where ‘sustainabiliy’ was the key word. But looking for this one is impossible.

The very long and very impressive artistic life of Carole king, began with ‘O Neil’. An answersong to O Carol by Neil Sedaka.
With that in mind I decided to write an olleke bolleke to you. An answer song or thereabouts.

      I
      Donald Trump wat is dat
      Nog niet genoeg gehad
      Tijd voor wat vrije tijd
      Dat komt goed uit

      II
      Wordt geen misdaad geschuwd
      Naar de afgrond geduwd
      Wanneer is het genoeg
      B’donder de kluit

What I like about it, is that it’s full of letters/pronounciations the English language doesn’t have.
I love your poem to pieces. Thank you for posting!
      Kind regards, Gus

      • Greetings, Gus 🌿

I’ve written a few Higgledy Piggledy pieces, finding them enormously entertaining to compose, if a bit fairly challenging … which I always enjoy, too!

        I
        Donald Trump, what is that?
        Haven’t had enough yet?
        Time for some free time
        That works out well

        II
        No crime is spared
Pushed to the brink of the abyss
        When is enough enough?
        Damn the whole lot

Yeah! When pronounced, comparing my English version with your Dutch version, I see what you mean by the fuller experience, and I completely agree.

        “Trump’s Bloody Stump” (in Dutch)

        Rommelig en chaotisch…
        onze oranje man, Donald Trump,
        trapt in zijn eigen valkuil
        met bizarre poses.

Hij bijt zich vast in zijn eigen enkel
        terwijl hij onbegrijpelijk
        en dwaas
        gekke uitspraken doet.

Ha-HAH! Poetry is such an endless smorgasbord of creative delight!
Thanks, Gus, for sharing some of it with me! ⁓ Rascal🖌

    • Love the comically playfulness of the write.

      • Many thanks, Dear Fia, for dropping by for a read 🤓

I’m so glad I’ve tickled your funny bone, and am truly grateful that you love anything about my poetry!

“Happy Holidays, Dear Poetess!” ⁓ Rascal🍷

    • Delightful piece in every way.Quite the opposite of the orange buffoon.
His ascent to POTUS surely must put to bed the notion of an all caring, all loving, all knowing God.
      🙏

      • Salutations, Peter ✨

The most basic sensibilities would struggle to disagree with your well founded sentiments of our orange tinted Potus, Syr Poet … he’s emphatically that depraved!

Thanks bushels for reading and your much appreciated compliment! ⁓ Rascal🖌

    • Well, I shudder to think I may be rewarded for my comments by a triple play on words if I include the two previous pos(t)ers, but I do like your HIGGLEDY PIGGLEDY

      • … especially the two lines,’ sticks his foot in his mouth with weird posings.” (Please forgive my combining them here for greater clarity). I noticed some differences in structure, i.e., your piece uses a 4,6,6,4 verse structure, while my double dactyl uses a 6,6,6,4 structure. Why is this? Some Dutch “foregotten lore” perhaps? Speaking of the Orange One, I have a senryu posted here you might like: “Doughy Goliath,” just a short bit of fun while I’m learning other poetic structures like Senryu and Haiku. https://starsrite.com/articles-essays/doughy-goliath/

I looked at the Dutch bits above and wish I could read them — they look like a lot of fun.

This looks very odd because my page crashed as I was typing this, so I encluded the lost part in this 2nd post.

        • Thank you most happily, Syr 😃

For “liking” those two lines and sharing my humble effort here … albeit, somewhat shamelessly out-of-sorts from the norm; seems I may have been attempting to somewhat correlate with our Dutch friend, Gus’, style. But, I’ve slept a lot since; so, who knows … LOL! Still, as my Higgledy Piggledy (not a true Double Dactyl) is ©2018, I probably selected something to share with his version I’d written off-the-cuff back when(?).
In learning Haiku & Senryu, did you, perhaps, refer to my “Back To Poetry Basics https://starsrite.com/groups/back-to-basics/” lessons site on these two forms?

          Thanks again, M’Friend! 🙏
Ain’t poetry an endlessly entertaining and challenging art? ⁓ Rascal🖌

    • Frankly, I don’t recall what or who or where or when or how long I studied, but it wasn’t from anything on this site.
By the way, I was experimenting with different rhyme schemes and came up with one of my own you might try and see if you like it. I haven’t given it a name, but maybe, “Maddening” might fit. The piece is up here, Terpsickore: an Experiment in Rhyme” https://starsrite.com/uncategorized/terpsickore-an-experiment-in-rhyme/ . I misspelled Terpsickore on purpose because of all the fits it gave me, and it did seem like a dance, so …. If you like it, maybe you can come up with a better name for the rhyme scheme, something more technical. I’m not much of a technician, nor am I that well “formally” educated. I’ve learned mostly from just looking at what other folks have done and trying stuff that I find interesting or just to see what works. My degree is from Hard Knocks U, Richard. I did attend the U. of Texas, for a bit, as a Drama major.

    • Amnesia, would be a lonely thing for a poet of the forgotten. This was exquisite, Damian.

    • Hello dearest Damian great write I feel this I often wonder if forgetting is a blessing or a curse ❤️

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Brenda. So glad you connected with the write my friend. Maybe a little of both depending on what’s forgotten. Appreciate you.

        Damian

    • Tremendous work, my friend.

    • Damian, this is strong tonic. I could feel this in my bones as I read. This i the stuff of poetry that feels like strong whiskey on the tongue. Sad but great writing.

      John

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, John. So glad you connected with the write my friend. It is sad indeed. Thank you for your continued support. Appreciate you.

        Damian

    • It is cruel when the mind slips and cannot grasp what you have lost. Food for thought.

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Fia. So glad you connected with the write my friend. It is food for thought, these are the little things I think about late at night. lol. Appreciate you, cuz.

        Damian

    • Older age? I know all too well the fading of a few things within myself!
Yet you haven’t lost your literary touch! You are blessed with talent, that hasn’t ebbed. Thankfully we write down our material, no need to remember them from scratch! LOL.
You still can kick some ass with a pen, Damian. Wield it high!

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Mark. So glad you connected with the write my friend. Getting old isn’t without the fear of losing one’s self along the way. I’m just trying to hang in there. You’re much too kind, Dear Sir. But thank you for your continued support brother. Appreciate you.

        Damian

    • Exquisite piece Damian. Well written my friend.

    • exceptional read! full of concise, vividly profound imagery…
      a sense of melancholic unrest. ~ c

    • As you so often do, you stirred levels here again. I read this from the personal perspective of memories slipping. A sense of self lost in blips of time. I also see this as the world arena and how people have lost their sense humanity, their compassion, their community. Like the whole damn world has global amnesia. And I read it as literal amnesia from losing time in the form of blanks in memory from drink or drugs. Many layers, my friend

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Willow. So glad you connected with the write my friend. Well you know me, I love when there are multiple meanings and endless possibilities. lol. Sometime’s I think it’s probably little pieces of all those things rolled into one. I follow where my muse leads me. Appreciate you.

    • Beautifully penned, Mark. A very passionate write my friend with excellent execution. Nicely done. Happy Holidays to you and Adel. Appreciate you.

      • How’s you Damian? I hacked this write to death! I like it, I hate it, LOL.
But I thank you just the same. I wanted to post something… Life is a bit busier lately, yet I still always have the craving to write and/or edit something.
Del was here for ten days this time. And it’s always too short a visit.
You take care out there, and have some awesome holiday times!

    • This is beautiful.

      • Thank you Amethyste. I appreciate your kind comment. This write was a struggle, so thank you for the note of encouragement.
        Happy Holidays to you!

    • Powerful work, my friend.

      • Hello Thomas!
This write has some good parts, and some clunky parts, I know. I’ve been all helter skelter with the transition of ideas reaching the written word. Yet I am sure we all have the lulls in our writes.
Have some happy holidays over on your corner of things. Then perhaps write something awesome, as you tend to do!

    • From the title to the stanzas within, this is a gorgeous and tender declaration Mark. No thrills, no spills – just the soft thrum of union. Rob

      • What a great word; Thrum.
The title/name I totally made up, because I wanted something different. It also helps me remember my writes, by giving them some unique titles. Yeah?
        I appreciate the nod, Rob.
I hope you are doing very well and finding inspiration in your world. It’s there, amigo. Just grasp it.

    • So touching and sweet.

      • Hey Fia! I had to feed my page something! LOL. I beat this write to death, and unfortunately it shows some scars! Choppy stanzas and such. But I’m moving on from it. I have a pretty good idea of what to write next. I just have to apply the time and mood to it. Soon!
        How’s you?!

    • Tremendous imagery. You paint this scene well.

    • I love the painting with eyelashes! I might have to steal that!
Being with you is home to me.
Everything is relaxed and I was comfortable in my own skin or my bath robe. Lol

This write reminds me of our time together. 10 whole days. It went by too fast but I cherished every second.
I remember you bringing up a ballerina vibe for one of your writes. You did her justice with this. Very eloquent with just the right amount of angst. Thank you for posting this baby, gave me a smile while reading:)
Love you and sorry it took me forever to comment! It’s been a crazy month at work and off as you know.
      Call ya later this evening:)

      • You don’t ever owe me a comment. As long as you wear my t-shirts like you do… That itself is quite a statement!
As you know, there is no specific “Tey Saree”. It’s an image from my mind wandering like it does. Which is filled by you.
I just come up with names to title them, so it doesn’t get too repetitive.
`I just had a bag of popcorn for my bedtime snack. I’m a rebel! Thats why I buy toothbrushes in bulk.

Hey, I missed you as soon as that shuttle pulled away! What a great time we had, punk!
I love you too babydoll. I’m still smitten!

    • But I’m scrambling, H !
I’m supposed to be finalizing them into book format, but I keep editing them more! I need intervention! lol
As long as there is someone to tell me that I’m doing okay, I will keep going with this writing curse. So thank you for being that for me. I do like being engrossed in it. Don’t we all?
