    • This is great writing Nev.
I loved how descriptive it is and how it connects with the soul.
How we all try to live for something greater while time wastes away.

      Enjoy Miami!
Im headed to Tampa in a couple of weeks!
      Safe travels!

      • Many of my most heart-felt thank you’s Adelphina .. take care and enjoy Tampa .. I should be well on my way to Peru and Chile by then .. Neville 😎👍

    • Powerfully penned, Neville. Excellent write my friend. Have fun on your adventure and I hope you find inspiration. Be safe out there. Appreciate you.

      Damian

    • Neville, this poem was an artistic and soulful masterpiece. I felt the aging poet contemplating his life and its direction. Truly a grandly composed art poem that took me to places my heart often finds itself as I grown older. This resonates with me like a jazz song.

    • This personally touches me deep, words I need to listen and hear today…

“I don’t just look and see,
      but I watch
and I savour and I learn
      and then I try
      to hoard what I find”

How beautifully wise this is, I want to try and be like this always but I seem to fail sometimes, you wrote it with genuine and true feelings. another sailing another journey another experience 🌞 🌊 and don’t worry about me I won’t fly anywhere, I will be still here 😁

    • I just got the thumbs up to travel which was touch and go for a while because of my bad chest but now that I’ve got the go ahead, its all systems go .. I travel to London tomorrow & then get a flight to Miami .. from there I jump ship and head for South America eventually ending up in Chile .. Isn’t it amazing what lengths some folk will go for a bit of inspiration 😎.. I’m so glad You found this one .. You reading this particular little scribble is an honour in itself .. Oh’ and just for the record, we all fail sometimes and some of us more than others .. and also for the record, I do worry about You & wish You were were elsewhere, somewhere safe & maybe with me .. My goodness, would we ever stop writing .. Take care while I am away my very dearest G Girl & don’t let them get you down .. Your mate, Me .. Neville 😎🌻💛⭐🌟👍

    • I can hear the ring of youthful sorrow, for sure. Even then your writing was excellent, my friend. Talent is apparently timeless.

    • I sense the merging of poetry and song .. it seems even back then you had something of a golden pen sir D .. Neville 😎👍

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Neville. So glad you connected with the write my friend. It was one of those writes that I knew I had something good, but I never considered myself a poet in those days, I was a lyric writer and engulfed fully into songwriting at that moment in my life. I always believed a lyricist wasn’t on the same level as a poet. Even, Bob Dylan, one of the best lyricist’s of all time has never considered himself a poet. I think a little differently these days. lol. Appreciate you.

    • DAMN! If this is your 1st poem, this is excellent. Has a lyrical flow. Nicely said my friend.

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Keith. So glad you connected with the write my friend. It was one of the first for sure, maybe even number one. I was a lyricist first at the time in my life. There were a couple different poems I penned in 96. I just put the year on my writes back then, anyhow there were a couple of poems scattered throughout my lyric book. Back when everything was handwritten. lol. I was just always pulled to rereading this one a lot. Appreciate you.

        Damian

    • Oh! This is damn good.

    • Your talent was there from the beginning. Great metaphorical poem, Damian.

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Tim. So glad you connected with the write my friend. Thank you for your continued support. Appreciate you.

    • Damien with an edge! I dig it.
It has a great rhythm and flow.
Thanks for sharing something you hold dear.
      It’s not always easy.

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Adel. So glad you connected with the write my friend. Yeah, I had a little bit of an edge back in the day. lol. I’m so glad I shared it, and I do hold this one dear. Appreciate you.

    • Damian your poem is as lyrical as it is deep. The idea of fear as a lover is a brilliant metaphor and I could really hear the melody of your words. Loved the creative flow here that took me into an exquisitely unfolding song.

      John

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, John. So glad you connected with the write my friend. It’s the idea of fear as a lover that always draws me back to this write as well. One of my better ideas. Glad you enjoyed the journey. Appreciate you.

    • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Mary. So glad you connected with the write my friend. That was what was so cool about it to me as well. “Fear as a lover.” Spot on my friend, Right back at you.. Appreciate you.

      Damian

    • What a splendid start of your poetic work, dear Damian! Fear as lover is an impressive and convincing personification. Like a lover, fear can accompany us until it becomes part of us. Your talent from a young age on is undeniable. Great work, my friend!

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Elke. So glad you connected with the write my friend. You hit the nail on the head with your commentary, it was one of my better ideas I’ll admit. Thank you for your continued support my friend. Appreciate you.

    • The darkness is shown, but it’s the kind of darkness that fills the silence and quietness after a sweep of pain. there is numbness and there is the teenage intense feelings and his mind, the mind that feels that no one understands him. This reminds me with Nirvana.

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Light. So glad you connected with the write my friend. You are so spot on with that analysis, I really enjoyed your commentary and feedback my friend. I felt all those things you mentioned in my life when I penned this one. Appreciate you.

        Damian

    • There are those who say we have to overcome our fear. I contend that it serves a purpose…and we move despite it. I will shamelessly admit that life has left me half terrified of my own shadow. But I’m still chugging along and doing the things. This was a brilliant piece. I’m not sure I would call it dark though. Maybe smudged around the edges? First poem? Damn, my friend…

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Willow. So glad you connected with the write my friend. I do think fear has a purpose as well. I’m an overly cautious human myself, I don’t seek out confrontation, in fact I try to avoid it. But sometimes it is necessary to face one’s fears. Maybe a little grey around the edges. lol. It was definitely one of the first, if not number one. Appreciate you.
