    An Order of Inequalities.

I failed her test.We were two equationsfrom the startwe just didn't add up. If my brain is travelingat 80 miles per hourand hers at 50,how long will it taketo determineour possible chemistry? She studied me,but couldn't findthe answer. Now I'm back, trying to...

    • I love the math component in this. Some things don’t always add up but we must figure out the equation:))

    • Force of attraction formula in physics.
      F = G * (m1 * m2) / r².

Force of attraction formula in humans
      L= G * (m1 * m2) / r².

      Where L is Love
      G is Gentleman
M1 is number of times he messed up
M2 is number of times she messed up
R is number of failed make up attempts.

    • Cleverly penned, Tim. Amazing wordplay, love the whole equation vibe. Nicely done. Appreciate you.

    • Tim I absolutely loved this. This is a brilliant use of the math metaphor for relationships with women. Truly an enjoyable and amazing read for me tonight.

    • This is gentle and clever the way you turn numbers into feeling it lands with a quiet ache. I always can expect something fresh every time I go to the back of the book if you will…

    Remaining Numb

Spent so many years finding a reason Constant friction rubs against the grain With hope comes a change of season Suspicion stirs beneath a summer rain   Thought I caught lightning in a bottle Forgotten words splinter through space Ancient spirts following at full throttle Falling out...

    • There are so many great lines in this one. I think the one that sticks the strongest with me is:

“Complacency is a recipe for disaster”

Not paying enough attention to the gravity of a situation is so dangerous. All it takes is a single grain to tip the scales. Gotta watch the build-up. Your mind never ceases to amaze me, my friend

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Willow. So glad you connected with the write my friend. One of my favorite lines as well, though I had other lines I liked as well. You’re spot on as always. Appreciate you.

    • Coming to a dark truth is scary after a long search isn’t it?
Favorite line: Distractions occupy the symbol minded

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Tim. So glad you connected with the write my friend. It is quite scary, it definitely woke me up. lol. I loved that line as well, one of my favorites. Appreciate you.

    • G’mornin’, Damian 🌤
The enjoyment of your fine writes goes well with this hot wake up mug-a lapsang souchong.

Such a beautifully rendered, smoothly flowing set of unmetered Quatrains (in a-b-a-b spot-on rhymes) sing a sad song, indeed.
They say, “We must play the cards we’re dealt!” But, I, as You, have obviously been dealt some tragically sorry hands.
The one worst aspect of romantic relationships your keenly-writ lines bring to mind, is the painful reality of unrequited feelings and emotions.

“Understand I’m living the fucking song
And your loyalty lies in remaining numb”

Brilliant work, Syr Poet … thank you for sharing! ⁓ Rascal🖌

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Rascal. So glad you connected with the write my friend. Terrible hands indeed, and I didn’t do much in my early life to help matters. Like becoming an alcoholic, just lead me farther off the path. This one has layers, on one hand there is nothing wrong with a romantic relationship poem, so I don’t mind it being viewed as such. But this one is more about a songwriting partner/friend who I loved like a brother. He was family, until that was no longer possible. They kinda overlap. lol. Thank you for your wonderful commentary. Appreciate you.

        Damian

        • Thanks for clearing the relationship … just read again and it makes perfect sense.

          Been there, done that!

A thought: Ya might consider saying what you did to me in the Summary for others to enjoy this piece all the more.

Thanks, Damian, for your appreciation! ⁓ RJ

    Tread Lightly

Reading the room reveals a clue It takes concentration to observe  Ghosts of the past in the rearview Another deadman found his nerve   Once inside it’s difficult to leave Too many loose ends unravel lies Can’t get dirty and remain naive Tactical spider still collecting flies   Planting...

    • I think about the consequences of opening my mouth & weigh them against the burden of saying nothing. If it has the potential to hurt someone, I keep it locked in the Nope folder. There’s a lot of insight in this one. That cautionary note…think before you speak…is never out of date, my friend

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Willow. So glad you connected with the write my friend. I always try to think before I speak. Sometimes that means biting my tongue, I like to choose the hills I’m willing to die on. Always enjoy your commentary. Appreciate you.

    • No you can not stay naive. Especially when you already was a part of it.

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Fia. So glad you connected with the write my friend. Exactly, also can’t play the victim when found at the scene of the crime. Appreciate you.

    • Learning to “read the room” is such a great line, and your last is filled with wisdom. We live and we learn as we go learning from our past mistakes and learning from others.

      Great poem.

      • Thanks so much for reading and your kind words, Tim. So glad you connected with the write my friend. It was a cool line. Wisdom is gained over time, I totally agree. Appreciate you.
