I love the idea of this, the imagery. The whole gnome part almost, but not quite, adds a whimsy to it. Yet the despair overcomes that brief slide towards “not so bad”. The ending is perfect. The whole write is great stuff.

This is a well written, meaningful and thought provoking piece, dear Peter! I agree, fear is often irrational. We anticipate situations that may or may not happen in future instead of living in the present moment and experiencing open-minded whatever life may present us.
