There is dark
And there is pitch
It’s funny how dark can feel comforting
And pitch is where the nightmares make a home

I see your silhouette in the dark
Envisioning warmth from lips
Sounds that roll like sweet butter toffee off the tongue
And I know there is only one thing left to do

Then there is the pitch
Alone and not
Knowing at any moment you will be here
My tormentor…my personal….demon

There are times
My mind does not comprehend
The subtle nuance of the color
Instinctual….. I know
Tonight is the pitch
