Come close,

beneath your nearness

and the warmth of my skin,

until neither of us knows

where one begins.

Your mouth finds my neck,

then pauses there,

a whisper of heat

caught softly in air.

I feel your restraint

before I feel your hand,

the softest tension

I can barely withstand.

It is that tenderness

that loosens me,

softens the places

I only let you see.

My body answers

before words can arrive,

beneath thought,

something alive.

I reach for your fingers,

you draw me near,

and suddenly distance

has disappeared.

Silence grows warmer.

The night settles deep.

Two hearts find a rhythm

the daylight can’t keep.

And if I open,

let it happen slow,

like a door yielding softly

to someone I know.

Not because you entered,

but somewhere before,

you were already the reason

I left the door ajar.
