The song “Take on Me” topped the Billboard Hot 100 charts in October 1985. It is a synth-pop high energy song that takes the listener on an adventure, as also portrayed by the very creative music video released at the time. The 2017 MTV unplugged version of the song is an emotionally charged reinterpretation of the song. The lyrics of both versions are identical.
feelings…
flow on a stream of emotion
unto an open sea
navigating this nebulous ocean
excitement…
found in the upbeat of the tune
melodically safe
carefree, we’re surfing it soon
solemn…
in the undercurrent of the song
melodically sorrowful
where sullen thoughts do belong
tempo…
deciding which side of the coin
when words are the same
the melody knows where you’re going
interpretation…
perhaps it’s thought evoking
regardlessly so
undeniably emotionally provoking

Cleverly penned, Angel. Another excellent write my friend. Amazing song and the video added layers to the experience for sure. Great job of letting music inspire you, I do that as well. Appreciate you.

Damian, thanks for commenting. I am awe struck by the different musical interpretations of the same song. Often what is felt is not necessarily found in the words.
That song always cut through to me, even as a kid. I like how it inspired you. Well done. Thanks for sharing.
Brandon, thanks for commenting. When I considered the concept of “Two sides of the same coin” my thought related to how there is always an optimistic and pessimistic approach to an unresolved situation or circumstance. The lyric “It’s no better to be safe than sorry” goes against the grain of the well trusted advice of “It’s better to be safe than sorry”. That is where I landed. In other words, the situation didn’t change. However, the approach for resolution makes all the difference.
this is deep beautiful Angel I was fifteen in eighty five and I love that song…❤️
