I WRITE TO BREATHE

HomePoetryI WRITE TO BREATHE
Summary:
I have learned as of last year how to turn my poems into songs so I home you enjoy it.

Sometimes I don’t write for beauty.

I write because if I don’t, I’ll drown in silence.

These words—they’re the only air I got left.

So if you read me… just know—

This ink’s my heartbeat.

For years, I’ve written without pause—

sometimes with tears,

sometimes with silence,

sometimes with a broken pen,

and sometimes with the ink of my heart.

Each word carries shadows of pain,

each line dissolves into sighs of lost dreams.

I’ve come to learn—

Poetry is not only etched on paper,

but carved into the wounds of life itself.

These verses became my companions

When people drifted away.

These pages became my mirror

when faces hid behind masks.

I write so I may survive.

I write so I may weep.

And perhaps, one day,

My words will lighten the burden

of someone else’s soul…

(🎤 R&B/Rap Version — soulful, vulnerable, and empowering, with emotional rhythm and honesty.)

“I Write to Breathe”

SPOKEN WORD (soft, reflective tone)

Sometimes I don’t write for beauty.

I write because if I don’t, I’ll drown in silence.

These words—they’re the only air I got left.

So if you read me… just know—

This ink’s my heartbeat.

VERSE 1

I’ve been writing through the silence,

Through the nights that cut like glass.

Every tear became a lyric,

Every scar is a line that lasts.

When the world turned cold, I stayed,

Bleeding ink where hearts decayed.

PRE-CHORUS

Paper doesn’t judge me, paper doesn’t lie,

It catches my truth when I can’t cry.

CHORUS

I write to breathe, I write to live,

Pour out the pain I got to give.

Each word’s a prayer, each line’s a scream,

My soul’s reborn inside the dream.

Yeah, I write to breathe, I write to stay,

To turn my hurt into a brighter way.

VERSE 2 (Rap Bridge)

I’ve seen love fade, I’ve seen hope drown,

I’ve stitched my peace from the words I found.

These pages keep me when no one stays,

They know the secrets I never said.

Every verse, my reflection bleeds,

Every rhyme, the part of me freed.

CHORUS

I write to breathe, I write to live,

Pour out the pain I got to give.

Each word’s a prayer, each line’s a scream,

My soul’s reborn inside the dream.

OUTRO

Maybe my pain will heal itself,

Maybe my words will guide them home.

I write to breathe, I write to be—

And in my truth, I set myself free.

All this and more you gave us with this wonderful post.

    2. Powerfully penned, Lizz. Excellent write nicely transformed into lyrics my friend. It’s the little differences between the two that gives them each their own personality, while mirroring each other’s point in substance. Nicely done. Appreciate you.
