Golf is Life (After Charles Bukowski)

HomePoetryGolf is Life (After Charles Bukowski)
Summary:
This is a new form I tried today...It's called the Golden Shovel. If you Google it, you will get all the info you need to give it a try. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQYZm3w3RPc Here is a link to my YouTube channel, where I read from my recently published books.

Golf is a game of recovery; there’s
an eagle and sometimes a seagull to keep a
lonely man company, an albatross but no bluebird.
Life is a game of recovery. We all want in.
Whether it be the cup or Heaven, my
guess is triple bogey and a broken heart.

    1. its a whole new ball game isn’t it .. You are a braver man than me tho’ Thomas I daren’t try anything new these days .. I’m either stuck in a rut or stuck in my ways .. Just keep using that shovel tho’ mate and you’ll have a hole in one in no time .. 👍

    2. I’ll be honest here, I used to hate watching golf. I couldn’t understand why anyone would spend hours watching THAT. You can’t even see that minuscule ball soaring into the air. And land? The f…? Where?!

But my nephew plays golf, he’s a superstar. I started watching golf with him on tv about 16 years ago. It took a year or two, but I can watch an entire game and not be bored. The precision, the concentration, the skill…bored? Never. Would I play? Hell no.

      This poem is brilliant.
You defined life perfectly- in those few short lines with a golf game. And, your classic Butkowski-ish poetry is perfect for this.

    3. I can relate, because I am a super putt-putter! LOL.
This write is full of vivid detail for sure. And concise but fully delved. Perhaps to be printed and posted at every club house across the country…before the hackers take to the greens. LOL
