Going Solo

It is I again. So I got news, some good, some bad, depending on your point of view, folks. I will probably be on a little less than usual for awhile, the house needs some upkeep, and the kids are back in school. 

SpotLight, will remain on hold as well. This site is growing and people are still getting accommodated, or have projects outside the site that their working on, and that’s all good. In fact I’m supportive of my fellow poets and poetesses, continuing their creative journey, on Stars Rite and abroad. 

I will continue to release, Backstage. But it’s only once a month. I haven’t decided on how much I’ll post other than that for now. I might do a comment here and there, but not the way you’re probably use to.

Ok, so that is the not so good part. All of you that know me, know my stories about music, and the band: DeadLove. 

It has been a huge part of my life to say the least. Even the fallout with, Joey G, had to happen. I’m finally free it seems.

Lately something has been off a little. A feeling has been brewing in the depths of my soul. A familiar itch has returned, unfinished business, another road in the journey lies up ahead. 

The studio calls in my dreams, my muse is screaming in my ears. She’s saying: “It’s time, Damian. It’s long overdue, it’s been over thirty years in the making, check it off the fucking list!

Believe in yourself, trust your gut, put on the headphones, plug in the mic, and write the album. DeadLove lyrics need a home, pen some new words as well, sprinkle in all the years of you denying yourself of this moment!

Funnel every emotion into this record, and come full-circle. Show those who thought it wasn’t possible, that it is! Joey G, doesn’t think you have it in you. Prove him wrong!”

My muse doesn’t play semantics, does she? This is all part of the process, the pep talk so to speak. Yes, I’m making a solo album, folks. I’m using GarageBand, to arrange the music.

It’s loops sure, but it was recorded by real musicians, who were paid for their work. So I look at it as I’ve hired studio musicians in a sense, to do a Damian DeadLove album. lol.

Following my logic, requires having an imagination, and a will to be weird. Remember, I march to a different drum, people. lol. 

This is not goodbye, it’s just devoting my focus to making this record. I’m never going to have great pipes as a singer. That being said, I’m running with the throttle wide open.

Whether it be singing, death growls, screams, snarls, whispers, or spoken word, I’m gonna use every tool in the box. There will be different flavors, especially musically. 

Maybe even horns, and strings. I’m serious. lol. Anyways, I’ll see you in the halls from time to time. And thank you, for your continued support, and helping me find my purpose in creativity.
